Arsenal question
« on: May 15, 2007, 06:04:37 PM »
Well, I'll have enough money to put another ball in my not so big arsenal. At the moment I have a Paradigm Passion OOB and a Pyro at 2000 Abralon with just a smidgen of that Moonshine polish on it. I'm looking to put something in between these guys. My initial thought was to check out an original Agent, but then I saw the Secret Agent coming out son so I thought I'd wait to see what that has in store. But then my buddy also mentioned a Domination...I dunno what would be good personally. What do you all think?

It all depends on what type of reaction you are looking for. Personally, I'd look for something weaker than the Pyro like the Jolt Pearl or Tropical Storm. But if you want something between the two, the Domination would fit perfectly.

If I had those I would get a T-Road Pearl probably to go with the Pyro but I don't know if that is between those two at all.

Hopefully someone else can chime in.  My thinking was you have the oil covered and you have a particle pearl so maybe a R2S pearl?

I'm personally a fan of the archy reaction as opposed to a skid/flip type reaction, which is why I had my Pyro abralon'd, to smooth out the reaction. It sitll goes pretty long, but the move off the break is a lot easier to control...I never did do well with polished ball, too squirty for my style. But I never even entertained the idea of a T-Road Pearl, I'll toy with that idea definitely. Any other possibilities?

With that in mind avoid the Domination and the Fired Up.  These are THE skid/flip balls in Storm's current lineup.  Both the Spit Fire and the T-Road can also be skid/flip - but with some care given to the layout they may be good for your purpose.

If you want between the Passion and the Pyro I'd look at either a Paradigm (again be careful with the layout as this ball can also be a skid/flip ball) or a Shift.  If you want below the Pyro look at a T-Road.  Another ball to look at that has a tendancy to be overlooked is the Thunderstruck Pearl.  For a mid-priced pearl it carries well and it is realatively smooth.

Seems like you already have something for oil (Passion) and something for medium (Pyro).  They both roll well on conditions that they are not necessarily known for.  My Passion works pretty well on medium oil lengths, as well as long or heavier oil.

If you're looking for something in between, I'd say go with the Spitfire or Fired Up...both have pretty good length and controllable arc.  I actually have my Fired Up to skid/snap, and it does so very well on outside lines.

Or you could go with the original Paradigm...I have mine drilled to go long which it does even on medium and lighter patterns.  Just last night, I played about 6 board out to 3 consistently for about 3 games on a medium oil pattern.

Yeah, I agree about the Passion. On a not-so-flooded shot it's not too shabby at all. And the Pyro is great for slop and medium-ish. The Pyro does have polish on it, 2000 Abralon with a hint of polish, so if the pattern is too long or has too much oil it fights, but doesn't quite make it. Although if I took off the polish and got a T-Road or a T-struck Pearl, I have all three bases covered. So many options, so much fun thinking about them.

I think what I'll do is wait for the next few bowling balls to hit the market, and then make a decision. I wont have the cash for a new ball for a while, and hopefully whilst waiting I can save up for a new ball roller too. Yay new stuff! Thanks for all the input people, muchly appreciated.

That's a smart move to wait a bit.  If you are looking for something in the Fire line, the Sure Fire will be R2S which is nice.  Then there is the T-Road Solid which should be the best ball evarrr.  And don't forget the Secret Agent.

Lots of choices...  Personally I would go with a T-Road Pearl now if I had those other two balls simply because the ball is extremely wicked and affordable and would be a different type of ball than the other two.

I like an original Agent for you, of what is out right now.
Like you said, you got a passion for heavy oil- which picks up early and has a nice arc.  Then you have a pyro for medium oil which you can polish up for drier- it picks up later and arcs.
I like an Agent in between those.. you can use it on heavy oil, when the back is drier- as it picks up nice in the midlane.  Or medium oil when there is too much in the back for the pyro.

I'm curious about the next in the fire line, as well.
