Attitude shift
« on: January 01, 2008, 04:30:44 AM »
Is the attitude shift a good ball for heavy oil and house shots.

I'm thirteen and been bowling for three years with a 160 average. I have a ball speed of 16-19mph and high revs. Would the attitude shift be a good choice for me? Any replies will be appreciated.

A better choice for you would be a session with a good coach.  A 160 average with no improvement over 3 years shows me that your game needs to be worked on first.  Consistency and good spare making will get you a lot further than a new ball.

JRC -
Try filling out your profile with your bowler specs (PAP, rev rate, speed, axis tilt, preferred line, preferred ball reaction, etc.) so that we can provide an accurate response to your question. We just don't know enough about you yet to recommend a ball for your game.

Well good for you, I guess, but unless you're averaging that with plastic or something very entry level you need to work on getting to the pocket consistently and leaving makable spares.

In the first 3 years I was bowling in sanctioned leagues my average went from 157 to 197.  I'm now carrying a 206-207 average in the house with the worst carry in the city.  There are fewer than 10 300's and very few 800's in this 40 lane house yearly.

J Mac, the kid is only 13.  That's pretty good for a 13 year old who's only been bowling for 3 years.  But it's nice to hear after you bowling for 3 yrs in sanction that your over 200 avg.  You're really good.

Lighten up... I was just trying to illustrate what having sound fundamentals can do...

JRC,

An Attitude Shift is not going to be any better for you than a No Mercy 'Beatn in oil.  If you don't already have one I'd save the money and get yourself a plastic ball to go along with your Hammer.  It will help you make more spares and that will improve your average.

I do have an old plastic ball so i will probably take that out and use. I was asking about the attitude shift because i'm about to move up in weight. so does the attitude handle the same amount of oil as the beat'n does.

Be careful as you want to make sure your primary ball and your plastic ball are the same weight - having different weight balls in the same game can mess up your timing.

I have a suggestion for you.  Assuming you want a ball that will handle oil similarly to an Attitude or a NMB you may want to take a look at the T-Road Solid.  I have drilled several of these for higher rev. bowlers looking for a fresh oil ball and they have had great sucess with them.  Also, since the T-Road Solid will cost you about $40-60 less maybe you can talk your pro shop into a new plastic ball that weighs the same.  You may be able to get 2 balls for close to what you were going to spend for the Attitude.

My nmb and plastic ball r the same weight.

I might go and talk to my pro shop about that ball.
Thanks.

Come again? You have a plastic ball, or you don't? If you don't, get one and don't get the Attitude Shift for now.
