I am interested in buying either the Attitude Shift or the Cell for a heavier oil ball. The ball would be used for more Sport specific shots, so overall hook and control are two big factors for me.

Overall hook and control are two different things with these balls. Two words come to mind with the Cell; control and continuous. While the Cell does hook the Attitude Shift produces more backend reaction than any other high-end solid asymmetric ball out there.
Bottom line is you need to decide which is more important, control (Cell) or hook (Attitude).

thanks for the advice. I've watched several videos online but just wasn't sure which way to go plus you can't always trust everything online. But thanks for your quick reply.

I would say that the Attitude Shift is not really made for heavy oil. It's made for medium-heavy oil when you have enough friction that you want to open up the back part of the lane and generate some angle to the pocket. On actual heavy oil, you don't need to generate angle so much as you need to generate earlier, more continous roll. The Cell should fit that role better.

From what I hear about the Cell it sounds like a great ball. I wonder how it matches up to the Special Agent because I have used that thing successfully on I think each pattern in two different houses. If you don't have a smooth rolling heavy-ish solid definitely get something that will emphasize that factor. You can use a ball like this on virtually every pattern I think.
For example, I have a Shift but I wouldn't use it with my house layout on the sport shot because I definitely couldn't control it. If I got an Attitude I would lay it out differently and try to get it to hook set or smooth out the overall reaction.

I would say the Cell. I saw an Attitude at a rather slick house, and it was really jumpy since it's more a of hook later piece than a control piece. Compared to my Passion, it stunk. And if you can dig one up, grab yourself a Paradigm Passion. By far the best piece I've ever owned, and it's unbelievably continuous through the pins. And if you're not brand specific, check out MoRich's LevRG, I hear nothing but praise for this piece.

I have the shift with the "control" layout that was in the book. Rico Special Agent and a t-road pearl i think 4.5 x 4 so i'm thinking the cell will fit better after everyone's advice to be the strongest ball I have.
