Drill #2: TOurnaments shot, "oil placed more evenly across the lane", "often longer in length, resulting in a slicker backend" has 4" pin-PAP and 2" pin buffer (distance to VAL)
Drill #3: Sport shot, "with a flat shot and very little taper, very challenging, straightest is usually greatest" has 1 3/4" pin-PAP and 1" pin buffer.
#2 will have much more hook and will have a relatively quick transition.
#3 is a maximum early, maximum control, relatively small hook.
Nicanor, Your description crosses the boundaries of both these drillings.
#3 might make many people wish their ball would hook more. #2 should still hook quite a bit, a lot actually but rev up relatively quickly.
The drilling will still not be the "Magic Elixir"; surface still rules.
A weight hole on your PAP will NOT reduce the as-drilled flare. OK, let me phrase it this way, "SHOULD NOT" reduce the as-drilled flare. A weight hole 2" - 3" past the PAP will definitely increase the flare, as will one 2.5" below your PAP
on balls whose RG differential is greater than .045", as the theory goes..
