Balance hole in an Attitude Shift???
« on: November 01, 2007, 02:38:50 AM »
I drilled the Attitude shift with the pro layot for flat long oil in accordance with Storm's drill sheet.  The drill sheet says to put the balance hole in line with the center of the grip and the CG.  After drilling the ball that put the balance hole on my PAP.  I thought putting th balance hole on the PAP reduces reaction.  I threw the ball only once and the ball reactio that I ws hoping to get wasn't there.  The ball seemed very mellow.  This is not a complaint but just asking for info.  I drilled it for league along with a Blac Widow and the Black Widow was hooking way too much and I wasn't get very much reaction with the Attitude shift.  Both balls just drilled and not fair to make a review and agin I only threw the Attitude shift once.  It could have been a release problem because I didn't have a feel for either ball.

This post is only to ask whether or not I should have put the balance hole on my PAP.  The drill sheet did not say to put the balance hole on the PAP, but like I said to put the balance hole in line with the center of the grip and the CG which  put the balance hole on my PAP.  Ball had a 2.75 pin and I drilled it to the Attitude Shift drill sheet for the flat long oil shot that was recommended.

I'm going to go throw the bal again now, so I hope to get a better feel for the ball.

Again for all you bashers, this is only a question about the balance hole.  Thats it.  Don't read into the post.

wow, no one wants to reply to this post?  I threw the Attitude Shift during shadow today and a couple of frames into the shadow, both lanes had a 180 and by the time they were fixed, league started.  I threw the ball better today though when I had the oppurtunity to throw the ball and the reaction was much better, actually too much for the lane conditions.  So I'll have to wait for another day, hopefully Sunday.

But I would still like the answer to the orginal post if someone has the info.

Thanks,

How did you get yours so early? They aren't released for about another 2 weeks.

I looked at the Drill sheet. If it's the #3 layout putting the pin 1-3/4 from your pap, this ball is going ot be smoother. Having a pin to pap that short is usually to make the ball roll super early and be smooth in the backend. Plus having the KEY 5-1/2 from pap is going to make it go long. It's a tough call. If you are going to use it for specifically for Flat Sport shots then leave it.

I don't have the drill sheet in front of me and I don't remember the drill number.  I just remember it was the drill recommnded for the flat oil condition.  I couldn't download the drill sheet on this computer the drill sheet is on the Storm website.  I think it was the drilling putting the pin 4 inches from the PAP and and pin 2 inches from the VAL.

Drill #2: TOurnaments shot, "oil placed more evenly across the lane", "often longer in length, resulting in a slicker backend" has 4" pin-PAP and 2" pin buffer (distance to VAL)

Drill #3: Sport shot, "with a flat shot and very little taper, very challenging, straightest is usually greatest" has 1 3/4" pin-PAP and 1" pin buffer.

#2 will have much more hook and will have a relatively quick transition.
#3 is a maximum early, maximum control, relatively small hook.

Nicanor,

Your description crosses the boundaries of both these drillings.
#3 might make many people wish their ball would hook more. #2 should still hook quite a bit, a lot actually but rev up relatively quickly.

The drilling will still not be the "Magic Elixir"; surface still rules.

A weight hole on your PAP will NOT reduce the as-drilled flare. OK, let me phrase it this way, "SHOULD NOT" reduce the as-drilled flare. A weight hole 2" - 3" past the PAP will definitely increase the flare, as will one 2.5" below your PAP on balls whose RG differential is greater than .045", as the theory goes..

Thank you Charlest.  I believe it was drill 2.  The balance whole is just past my PAP. The pin is above my ring finger so I know its not the drill with the pin 1 3/4 from your PAP.

I hope to try it again soon if I could only get some time to practice instead of trying to pull it out during league.
