Control drill on Vertigo?

Just wondering what someone familiar with this ball and it's capabilities would consider a control layout.  Mine is laid out like so...

I had to scuff it with a burgundy pad recently to get a reaction I liked again.  I had it at a grey pad, but think that my increase in speed played a part in it hitting thin and leaving 8's and 8-10's.

This layout does best for me when I can play down and in with it.  What could I change, layout wise, to open up the lanes a little more with this ball?

Hmm...  I guess this has turned into more than just the original subject would lead on.

i'm not sure if any pattern can open up the lane more, but for control, i would go pin under middle finger, RAD 3" right of thumb, smooth and good for med-heavy oil.

I guess everyone means something slightly different when they say open up the lane more...  for me I'd like to see a little more midlane and backend.

My questions probably are conflicting each other.  I'm sure control layouts and a good midlane read with backend don't really go hand in hand.

Very possible, but it was long enough ago that I couldn't tell you what I changed to after I put the Vertigo away.  The lane conditions where I bowl can be pretty hit and miss.

I guess I used the wrong example for why I changed the surface on the ball.  More recently I felt I was throwing it through the breakpoint when it was at grey scotchbrite.

As with all asymetrical balls the mb/rad position dictates ball reaction more than pin or cg placement. This is definitely a tamed layout that should still give you decent hitting power considering the coverstock. I have a Vertigo drilled up exactly like yours except the pin is above the ring finger. It goes long and has a mild arc in the backend, Certainly nothing fancy or dramatic but very predictable. It's not the kind of drilling that will open up the lanes though.
