The core of the IQTP is better at handling heavier oil is what everyone is getting at here. The cover on the lights out is certainly stronger being a hybrid. Either way, I don't see the IQTP being much, if any, of a step down from the lights out. And like it was stated before, if the IQTP is struggling through the heads and burning up, the lights out will seem like a stronger ball on that condition because it will have more energy in the back part of the lane and be more angular. Bottom line is, if you are looking to step down from a lights out, the IQTP isn't going to be the ball for most people.
Understood. Yeah I was a little confused, you had me all messed up. Lol... Thanks for the input. I'll probably punch up a breeze and see how it does. If I use the same layout that I have on my Lights Out will the Breeze naturally give me the seperation I'm looking for or will the Breeze still be weaker if I use a stronger layout than whats on my Lights Out?
The tropical breeze, depending on which one you get (pearl vs hybrid) will be a step down from a lights out no matter how you drill it. It has a very weak core and cover.
I would go over to roto grips line, the core inside the wrecker/shatter, scream/shout allows me play straighter when everything else is too much. Id say scream 2013 yellow teal is your best option. Or if u can wait til january the uproar may be a good option. Normally id be urging you to get a wrecker as I did not experience the strength of the wrecker that everyone else did, but you have a lights out(to me thats the same ball but storms option). The wrecker has a core that performs well on dry lanes in my opinion. 9 times outta 10, I can switch to wrecker, ACTUALLY MOVE RIGHT.. and play the fried track area...when I can do that...im in great shape. Im thinking you can do that with the yellow/teal scream. Get that new scream and post your findings!
To Bill's point, I had a Tropical heat hybrid Black/silver which is a very similar ball to the lights out. I bought a scream as a step down ball and found that even this ball is quite a bit stronger than they market it for. It is certainly not as strong as your lights out but I don't think it will be the separation you are looking for, at least not from my experience with it.
