Title: ball drillers help heavy oil
Post by: wally on January 31, 2005, 02:12:19 AM
I am looking to get a fear factor or a flash flood for heavy oil. I throw about 16mph with med revs. need a little more hook on heavy oil. I normaly throw 16lbs. Should I buy one in 15 so I can get more hand in the ball, or stick with a 16. Also what kind of specs should I get I assumed a 1-2 inch pin with a lower top wieght. thats my ghess what do you guys think??? also how should I get the ball drilled?? I had a icon 300 drilled 16lbs with the pin to the right of the ring finger cg in palm. It worked so so I had good scores but still want a little more movment. thanks for your time wally

don't change weights ...

3 top  3inch pin out ....

pin below the fingers, kick the cg out....4x2,....w/ the fear factor, put the mass bias in the C position...kicked out toward your val

Yeah, what Jeff said, except I would go with Triple Extreme or X Factor Ace.  I think they hook more than Flash Flood or Fear Factor.  I think Super Charge might even be better.  Fear Factor just not great on oil.  Might even go 3X2.

I second what mike said. If you want movement you see, and are willing to pay for it, then an XXX Xtreme, Ace..if its a little less than heavy (IMO), or the new Vertigo would be the way to go. I love the Xtreme, the vertigo is looking real similar to me, but i don't have one so i can't comment. The Fear Factor is a heavy load particle, so its ideal look is straiter but the boards and a controlled finish. If you want a ball that will move and you can watch it, then get one of the others mentioned here. I don't think the Fear Factor is what you really want, judging by your comment about the Icon 300. They are similar balls, I would recomend a ball that shows you the move more. In other words if you want the move to be more distinct, and allow for more recovery then stay away from heavy particle balls. I learned my lesson the hard way (about $500 invested before i realized they weren't what i wanted), so i try to help others avoid my mistake.

Just wait for the Vertigo if you can. Just another 2 weeks more than likely before they are in all the pro shops.
