need help with my dimension

just got my dimension drilled the other day. the distance between the pin and cg is about 3 1/2".  When I threw it last night, the ball track rolls through my thumb, which I think is thumb rolling. But it doesn't happen on my other columbia balls. any reasons why?? what are your suggestions??

pin down.. pin was located between the middle and ring finger. cg was kicked out at about 1" to the right...where do I usually flare?? what do you mean by it?

Where is the oil line on the ball usually (not on Dimension)?

With that layout, it's normal to be tracking there.

well, for my other balls, the oil is tracking just beside my thumb and my finger inserts.. with the flare of the ball almost side by side with my outer switch grip.. but my other balls never thum rolled.. but, for this ball, you could really hear the "thug thug thug" sound of a thumb rolling ball...

The layout it was is causing it do hit the thumb from the sounds of it. From waht you say you are a high tracker so pin below drillings will likely roll over the thumb. Your driller should have noticed that and drilled accordingly. On low flaring balls it is not usually a problem but with balls like the dimension you need to be careful with people that track high like you.

Hopefully your driller can help you get it off the thumb

oh.. ok.. but i do intend to use it in longer/heavier volumes of oil, doesn't it mean that the layout should already be pindown??

Pin down means a little earlier roll and a more gradual transition.  The ball will be smoother and more continuous.  Pin up means a stronger, faster response to friction.  You can place the pin over the bridge to avoid tracking over the thumbhole, but still use the ball on heavier and/or longer oil by using a lower surface grit and an x-hole in the thumb quadrant of the ball.

yeah, it has a balance hole already.. its located on the right side in between the pin and cg... so, i dont know on what quadrant it is in... so, you guys suggest that i should plug it and relayout it with a pin up drilling?

Maybe you can make the balance hole a bit bigger that may help get the ball to flare away from your thumb.  

Tell the pro-shop operator when you visit again that you're tracking over your thumb, and that you don't want the ball to do that.  I would definitely tell him/her that you're unhappy and that the ball should have been drilled properly.

oh.. ok.. coz, I am thinking about plugging it.. and put a pin up layout here.. with the cg still kick put by about an inch to the right??
