I can't see a Virtual Gravity as a benchmark, that ball is just too strong even shiny. The Hy-Road IMO is the best option in the current lineup though i've seen many use the Rapid Fire Solid with a pin down layout as a benchmark with good success.

Agree with the Hy-Road or Rapid Fire Solid. Here is a little review of the Storm line that might help.

thanks everyone! and to answer the one question, the house i bowl in is probably med to med light most of the time, so i want to stay away from the virtual.

With that ball speed and the conditions you are bowling on with med rev rate, don't be afraid to take a gander at the Street Rod Pearl a very underated ball at a price that's easy on the wallet!

Rapid Fire Solid or Pearl. Another benchmark ball to look into is the Sure Fire, it's very good and a underrated ball.

The hy-road is a great benchmark ball. like it was said don't be afraid of the street rod line either. they are good balls aswell.

Street Rod Solid is my new benchmark ball.  The most bang for the buck.

I know you're talking about Storm, but I go from the Virtual Gravity to Cell Pearl to Grand Illusion.  I almost have the Cell pearl out of my bag and putting in another Grand Illusion because I think its such a great ball.

Yep Grand Illusion is one of the best balls out there period, I have been raving about it being better than Cell Pearl for a few months.

Nic,
I could see where the Grand Illusion or Cell Pearl might be benchmark balls for someone with 12-13mph ball speed but not the Virtual Gravity. I think the Grand Illsion would be the choice in the situation. A great ball as you have stated!

I agree about the Virtual Gravity being a little difficult with slow ball speed and it would be the case with a pin below the finger line, but with the heavier side of medium, not heavy, and a Virtual Gravity with the pin drilled aabove the ring finger (depending on pap of course) the VG goes pretty long and the pocket entry is amazing.  My VG with the pin below the ring finger is a heavier oil ball and rolls a lot sooner, but its suppose to.

The Cell pearl is a great ball, did not match up with the Cell at all.  My take on it is the Grand Illusion gives me a better look and better carry then the Cell pearl and the VG gives me better carry then the Cell.  The VG, for me as well as the Grand Illusion plays different shots better then the Cell pearl or the Cell. But I realize the cell and the Cell pearl are great bowling balls so don't slam me, I just match up better with the VG and the Grand Iluusion because they make a better move on the back end and carry better for my game.
