Title: Big Hit Particle...is it any good?
Post by: Hellbound on July 14, 2005, 09:15:34 AM
Have never seen anyone throw one.Interested to know what they are like.
The Big Hit line seems to work well on dry lanes, and a particle dry lane ball sounds quite interesting.
Hope someone knows.......

Randy Pederson had one shined up to about 2000 for his spare ball at the Tournament of Champions this year.  Big Hits were very "interesting" to say the least for my friend that I drill for.  He had 3 of the pearl ones, intending to use they for dry lanes.  I drilled them label, 5 x 5 layout, pin above ring finger (Right handed bowler) and they still hooked pretty well, even on medium conditions.  The new Tropical I drilled for him seems to be much more controllable.  If you want something for dry lanes, try one of those with an longer pin.

Yes, the Big Hit Particle is a dry lane ball. It will produce a smoother reaction than the pearl ones. Other manufacturers also had particles for dry or lightly oiled lanes, e. g. Brunswick with the Navy Quantum or the Power Groove Proactive Plum Pearl. I suppose that they ghet a better blend of lane condition transition between the oil and dry boards, offering more control than a pure reactive ball.

Just polish that puppy up and it works like a dream.

On a side note, Storm4ever, I also just drilled a Tropical and that thing rolls sweet. Very smooth, and able to open the lane up.

This is for Hussman "particle dry lane ball? Isn't that like an oxymoron."

The V2 dry is a particle ball and it doesnt roll out.  it is all in the Rgs and differentials not really in cover stocks.

Agreed but its not all in the Rg's. The coverstock has a lot to do with it. If you can stick that core from the V2 dry into a heavy load particle ball i bet money you wouldnt be saying that its not about the cover. The cover has a lot more than u think to do with the ball.
