Secret Agent
« on: August 31, 2007, 07:24:19 AM »
Have to say I'm surprised by the reviews that I have been reading and even the post topics about this ball.  I been playing with Storm since april and been having good luck with what I have drilled.(special, shift, agent)  I drilled the secret pin 5" from pap cg swung at 45deg xhole on pap.  For me the ball goes aslong as my agent did and like some of the other reviews just rolls nothing flippy about it in the backend.  I thought I wasn't going to like this ball untill this last wednesday night of league.  THS but to me it seemed shorter than normal first game I went 229, second went front 8 for 277, third front 9 for 277 783 series.  Honestly I still think the ball goes to long for me.  I'm going to wait for a bad night to change the surface though.  I'm sure this doesn't help for anyone on the fence for drilling this beast up.  Good luck and good bowling!

The ball is a monster if you sand it down a bit. I have mine currently at 500 and have tried 1000, and the ball reacts so much more.

Kenny, I ordered 2000 and 1000 abralon pads. I plan to take mine down to 1000. Does it make much difference?

It makes one hell of a lot of difference. At 4000, it seems like it is just ice skating down the lane with minimal move. At 1000, it picks up it roll a whole lot sooner, and a big move on the back. I would definatly try 1000 first.

Like all of the R2S balls, surface adjustments can create a wide range of reactions. I would agree that the Secret is best at about 1,000 ON OIL, including your typical house china.

However, my box finish (4,000) Secret with the pin in my track has performed tremendously on the Cheetah pattern.

Like anything else in bowling today, matching up is the key.

It's a little easier for some of us to that either work around a pro shop or bowl a great deal to play with surfaces. I have talked to folks till I was blue in the face thats it's all surface adjustments but they rather leave it box finish.  I feel that the the bowling industry is changing in favor of tweaking the covers.  Thanks for posting guys
