Compliment to Attitude Shift
« on: December 26, 2007, 02:34:55 AM »
I'm looking for something to compliment my attitude shift.  Something with a little smoother roll, and less back-end than the attitude shift.  Thanks in advance

Also, would prefer Storm, but not opposed to any other balls out there...

When I think "smooth," I think of either the Special Agent or maybe the T-Road Solid.  Same coverstock as the Attitude Shift, but a rollier core.  They will definately need some oil to get down the lane, however.  If you need something weaker, maybe a Thunderstruck or Jolt solid possibly (I haven't seen those two balls much in person, but going off what I know about them).

I've seen an Agent and a Special Agent in person, and both were mighty mighty smooth. T-Road Solid was mighty smooth too. The new Track Kinetic is quite possibly the smoothest piece I've seen in person in ages...I'm so tempted to get one, but it'd overlap too much with my gear.

Secret Agent is much smoother than the Special from what I've seen. However, I hated the Secret.

The Secret is almost too smooth...

I bought my mom an Attitude Shift and had it drilled up for her tonight (approx 4 1/2 x 4 layout, pin under fingers) and I can definately say now the Special Agent would be a good smoother complement for oil or an Agent would be a good complement on lighter oil.  And for what it's worth, I'm highly tempted to go punch up an Attitude Shift for myself after seeing how that ball rolled for her...

Special should be perfect IMO.

The Secret seems to roll very early and give up a lot of its energy soon, making it very tame on the backend. Not many people are looking for this type of reaction IMO.

The Special however is one of the best balls on the market!

I like the Sure Fire as a compliment to the Attitude and Special.

T-Road Solid would be a nice smooth look to compliment the Attitude with.

Secret is a good ball, but probably too smooth for most league shots. Get out on something a little long with out much room and I bet you will like your Secret Agent then.

Keep in mind that this is coming from a lefty ( im assuming so because of your screen name ). This means that the right handers thought process doesnt neccessarily apply here. If you are most comfortable from say 10 out, then you can probably have more success with a Secret than most right handers do, due to the lack of transition on your side. Also, depending on your physical style, the Special may hook more overall than your Attitude so that may not be the way to go. The Surefire is a little smoother, but may read the friction on the left side a little stronger than the Attitude. I wouldnt be afraid to drill another one with more of a CG/Mass bias kick and maybe a low extra hole to get it to pick up and roll instead of changing direction. Just a thought

Good point Jeff. Missed the screen name and saw no other mention of left hander. Given your scenario the Secret might be a good choice but it will be big step from your Attitude Shift (depending on layout, not mentioned) and thus you will likely need something else to fill this gap, depending on how many balls you like to carry/how specific a reaction you are looking for.

Personally the Secret hasn't been much help for me. I bowl in Europe and we don't see the volume of oil in the heads that you guys often do. Being over 450rpm I don't see much use for the Secret in my environment. Would be nice to see the Tour Power back, something that clears those kind of heads easily but doesn't do U-turns on the backend!
