Just wanted some opinions....

I have a Dimension, which I don't match up well with (probably because it is drilled too strong); a Gravity, which is pretty much dead; a Cell Pearl, which is my new favorite; and a Rapid Fire Pearl, which I would keep also.

I was just wondering if it was worth having the CP, 2D, and HR in the same bag. The Cell Pearl is 5 1/2 x 4 (pin about an inch above ring finger) and I was thinking of drilling the 2D pin down and the HR stacked above the bridge.

Any opinions???

In a word, no. The 2D and Hyroad will cover 80% of anything you will ever see. Throw in the RFP for when you have to get in and go around the lane and you are cooking with gas. So in conclusion, you would not NEED the Cell Pearl.

My dimension rolled good as long as I had tons of oil. On med volumes it was too much ball...roll stop. Best polish I used on it was step 2 on top of 2000 abralon pad surface. When I did this it was alright on medium oil...did skid and strong arc. There are better storm medium balls than dimension. In my arsenal I have gravity shift, 2nd dimension, rapid fire pearl,hy-road, then t road pearl. Works well for me. I have a pin under hy-road at 4000 and another stack on grip line above. Best option for you is to ask your driller who should watch you bowl and see what you need. I do like what you thought about doing but ask your driller.

The answer to your question is depends. If you are bowling exclusively on a house shot I'd say your bag is becoming redundant. However, if you are bowling on varying sport shots then a Cell Pearl, 2nd D., and HY-Road drilled differently and/or adjusted surfaces will be an asset by giving you different angles into the pocket.

If you are leaving the Cell Pearl and Rapid Fire Pearl at box finish you may want to alter the 2nd and HY-Road to get different traction other than the 1500 Storm Polish. I am loving my 2nd at 2000 abralon. At 2000 it is a great tweener ball for me (smooth downlane like a solid but still a nice turn at the breakpoint).

I would be bowling on different patterns, mostly sport. My CP is at OOB but it has some games on it and it reads a little earlier than a fresh OOB coverstock. My RFP is drilled pin above bridge and is also at OOB.

I was thinking of drilling the 2D pin down (maybe under the bridge) and taking the cover down to 2000 abralon. I would probably drill the HR pin above bridge or maybe even a 5 1/2 x 4 to match the CP. I'm not sure about the cover, I would probably leave it at OOB or take it to 2000 with polish.

northface: you say I would not need the CP but I already have one. What would you suggest for a 4 ball lineup, the fifth is a given, plastic.

If you drill the 2D pin under and add surface like you say, you may not need anything stronger than that. Conversely, if you do the same to the Hyroad, it can fill that same spot. We drilled a ton of Hyroads and they were all VERY good, no matter if it was pin high and polished or pin under and surface added.

IMO, I think you'd see more success if you drilled the HyRoad with the pin-under layout and add surface, and leave the 2D box and go pin over, with a CG swing and a decent size hole on your axis to smooth it out.

Then you have an earlier rolling, arcing ball (HyRoad), longer arcing ball (2D), an angular ball (Cell Pearl), and skid-flip ball (Rapid Fire Pearl).
