Hy-Road

Has anyone thrown the HY-Road? If so does the hybrid cover really perform like it should or is this another failed attempt to blend solid and pearl coverstocks? It has been my experience that these hybrid covers give anything but the bench mark reaction advertised.

It depends on how you define "benchmark" I guess. If it's too angular, knock the polish off it with a 4000 abralon pad.  That being said, the reaction really IS just combining a T-Road Solid and a T-Road Pearl, so you can get an idea from that.  It's going to have some snap on the back out of the box thanks to the high gloss polished finish, but it's not a violent snap.  It's very controllable.  And again, taking the polish off it will smooth it out quite a bit.  My dad drilled one up with a strong layout (one of the Mo Pinel "double thumb" drills) and it's very, very predictable off the spot, but gets enough angle to carry even from deeper inside lines.

Yea it's a good ball.  I knocked the polish off and went with 4000 grit.  Smooth, Smooth, Smooth.

I drilled mine with the pin below to get it started earlier, and it's nice

I was hoping to hear that this was a good ball. I LOVE my T-Road solid (go out and buy one you will not be disappointed) but I am a little apprehensive about the Hy-road because I threw the Secret Agent and I thought it was a dud and a friend of mine had the Hot Rod Hybrid and he hated that ball.

I have heard bad things about the other Hybrids as well, but I love the Hy Road.  It's the only ball I carry with me besides my plastic ball.  No matter what house I'm bowling at.

The Secret Agent also had a light particle load, so that's not a very good comparison, bear that in mind.

The Hy-Road is 50% solid, 50% pearl, so you should have a good idea of what to expect from it.  When the T-Road Solid is rolling up a little too early, the Hy-Road will get you through the fronts cleaner and save up more energy for the backend, but it'll be a little smoother and get you through more oil than the T-Road Pearl.
