Torrent vs. Show Off
« on: July 02, 2017, 05:43:10 AM »
Both the Torrent and the Show Off have solid covers, higher RG numbers and lower differential numbers.  Does anyone have knowledge or insight into how similar they might be?

The cover strength variance is pretty significant, so I doubt there's going to be much similarity either in hook or shape.  I expect the Show Off to be clean and pretty flippy, while the Torrent is really even and smooth, and I expect 3-4 boards more hook out of the Show Off at least.

I'm surprised you guess flippy. The formula to me looks like another Haywire which was quite smooth in my opinion. I say that because of the somewhat low diff and cover too strong for its core like I felt the Haywire had.

I think differently because the Haywire still had a lower RG core. Also, since Micro DNA first came out, I felt it was cleaner and flippier than MicroBite.

Haywire was 2.50 and. 043.  Torrent and Show Off are both significantly higher RG than the Haywire at 2.56 and 2.55 along with a little higher diff at .044 and .045.

The Torrent, both I've drilled, are very reminiscent of the Rocket Ship (of course, same cover and almost same block).  It provides a little more motion downlane than the IQ Tour but same board coverage.

I'm thinking the same as 2handedrook, with the RG being much higher with the Show Off and that cover already tending to be kind of angular, the No Rules has some pop already with that big strong core, so I think everyone is going to be surprised with the move this thing is going to have on the backend.  I'm not saying it's going to turn sideways, but it's going to be angular for a solid.  However, Haywire is also what I was thinking too, just a longer and stronger version.

The cover strength variance is pretty significant, so I doubt there's going to be much similarity either in hook or shape.  I expect the Show Off to be clean and pretty flippy, while the Torrent is really even and smooth, and I expect 3-4 boards more hook out of the Show Off at least.

I could see that. Should be interesting.
