Storm.......Gone???????
« on: April 19, 2007, 03:58:16 AM »
My driller told me the other day that he doesn't know how long storm will be around for they may be closing is that true or is he telling me that so he doesnt have to drill the balls that smell (he hates them they clog his sinuses when he drills them)

The rumor was it really was for sale for way too much money, they wanted around 25 million which was way overpriced for there company. That is why they posted the columbia rumor stuff about being offered to sell to them, the vice presidents of there company had first rights to purchase it and guess what they could not find the money.

One of them now is working elsewhere and it looks like they are either staying independent or going to worth alot of money to sell out to the right bidder. I think they will stay independent and be around for the long haul.

And yes i have heard the BS about just shutting down from nobody that knows anything more than i do, i do not believe for one minute they would not sell at least there assets off if that was true. Common sense tells you that they have a brand name that is worth something in the bowling business.

Rumors rumors they sure cause me alot of crap but i have been a good boy lately and not posting 90 percent of what i hear out there.

Trig, I think you misunderstood him.  The new plant is going to be in Montreal.

The rumor is that Storm just bought a lot of the equipment from the former Columbia plant to expand their operations in Utah.  They'd been contracting with C300 to make some of their lower end balls like the Tropicals and Jolts because they didn't have the capacity in-house.  With the extra equipment, they'll be able to move all production back home.

Your ball driller obviously has no clue with what is
going on in the industry. Storm is expanding, and that is
fact, not rumor !

This just begs for a Photo-Shopped picture of the plant with a "For Sale" sign out front

I'm glad you're not going anywhere.  I love my Tropical

Why would a company that had 74 bowling balls appear on tv this past season on the PBA(2nd place Ebonite-47) close up shop?  Seems like a pretty succesful year in business to me.   I believe your ball driller is terribly mis-informed or just jerking your chain.

Below is a quote from Jeff Carter, if anyone knows Jeff would be the most reliable source on this site. Jeff hope you don't mind me cutting and pasting your post.

Rumors are swirling again that the Big B is buying Storm. The fact is that Storm will be beginning an expansion of the plant in just a few weeks. So the fact is Storm is going strong and growing more.....not selling to the Big B.
