Coverstock question?
« on: September 14, 2006, 02:23:42 PM »
I have a question for someone that might know.  I am all storm this year I like the pieces they have brought out so far this year but only have one concern.  How many balls are they going to put this reactor coverstock on and are these coverstocks tweaked for each ball or is a reactor pearl the same on one ball as it is another, with just different cores?  If they are tweaked why dont they specify which are stronger than others it is just confusing cause from a consumer standpoint it looks like the same cover on everything just with different cores. Dont get me wrong I really like the reactor cover specially the pearl and the particle pearl cover not sold on the solid yet ut the only one of those i tried was the diablo but i got other coming this year so just wondering if anyone can help me onthis deal?  thanks

Right now we offer 3 different coverstocks :

EOX - Paradigm / Passion
Reactor -Agent, Double Agent, Fired-Up, Fire-Diablo, Pyro, Spitfire, Thunderstruck Pearl & Solid, Tropical Storms ( Coming soon - Paradigm Domination )
Accu Tread - Jolt Pearl & Solid

The Reactor is by far the most versatile coverstock that we've had in a very long time. There are no variations in the cover from ball to ball. The Pearl Reactor that is on the Agent is the same pearl Reactor that is on the Fired-Up. The core shape makes the biggest difference when going from line to line

Given that the coverstock is 65-70% of a balls reaction, different surface preps of the same coverstock will give very different reactions.  We have 2 college bowlers in my house with Fire line arsenals and although they are the same cores we can get 3 very different reactions with the respective sufaces and drillings.

One has the Diablo, Pyro and Spitfire.  And another with the Diablo, Pyro and Fired Up.

They both use Tropical Storms as spare/toast balls and both are averaging in 190's.

With the college season coming up we are looking towards the stronger coverstocks for heavy oil in the Double Agent or Passion.

This arsenal makes for easy switching between balls in the heat of battle so these newer bowlers spend less time confused about equipment and more time confused about lane conditions.

Jeff,

With the release of the Paradigm Domination being produced with the Reactor Coverstock, will it carry the pricetag of the Paradigm or Master Line?

Thanks!

I'm sure it will be in the Paradigm line at the same price. That price point is due to the core more than the cover

Well if you remember last year Storm said that the EOX cover was pure or the finest resin (or something like that) and that was the reason for the increased cost of the paradigm, not the core.

I'll have to did back in the forum an see if I can find it.

Actually I sent Storm a E-mail last year asking them about it...I think I still have it in my E-mail inbox...Let me check.

I remember that as well.  Also, that core and others very similar to it were in the X-Factors before it and there was no price increase there.

The price increase is marketing..and getting the most they can for a ball.

Period.

Well, is there a high end assymetrical Reactor ball?  If not, I guess that kind of makes it unique.  I know the Agent has a symetrical core, but I am not sure about the others in the general vicinity of the Agent and Domination.

Now as far as retail price, they probably feel they can sell the ball just fine at that price.

I would buy one but I am not sure if I would want to get the Agent, Domination or Spit Fire.  But too many good choices is not a bad thing at all.

I'm sure they can get the 239 msrp for the agent/da. But your telling me that it costs 40-50 bucks more to make that core over the core in the fired up? Right.

Wait I am confused.  Are you saying that the Domination has the same core as the Agent?  The Domination has a RAD core.

So you are saying it shouldn't cost more money to put the same cover that is on the Fired up over the core of the Agent?

Well...  Maybe it does cost more, maybe it doesn't.  However, that doesn't have much to do with retail price.  The retail price comes from the performance of the product and how much they believe it will sell for.

Since the Paradigm Domination is a Pearl Reactive, does it also have the same cover stock as The Agent & Fired Up have?
