Details on the Lucid
« on: August 30, 2012, 08:08:08 AM »
Saw some literature on the Lucid, and have to say I think this is a step in the right direction for high end balls.

It's not simply a pearl Vivid.  The Vivid had the NRG cover (same as VG Nano), which the Nano Pearl was Pearl NRG.  The Lucid will be pearl, but WITHOUT the Nano portion of the NRG, it will be called ERG.

One of the complaints about the Nano was that it bled a little bit too much in the midlane and really had a tough time continuing downlane.  I think the loss of some surface on the Lucid will be great.

Over time I have noticed that high end cores with milder pearl covers tend to do much better on the market than stronger pearls.  I think the Lucid may be a great combination for the 1/2 high end punch.

Drilled mine up last night. (50*x5"x50*) all I have to say is WOW! Ball does not quit. It's nice and clean through the heads and turns hard on the backend. Will have more later on it when I throw it some more tonight.

Mine is 50* 5" 65*, and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had this much predictability out of an assymetrical ball.  When the oil is fresh I could play up the boards (for me anyway) and it faced up in the pocket nicely.  But when I played deeper, it got even better.  Whereas with the nano or the vivid I have to back off the ball some, the Lucid lets me keep my hand inside and really rev it up.  Thanks to the color scheme, you can clearly see it set up for the backend, and it's beautiful.

When did this turn into a brand bashing seminar?  Stay on topic.

How many games are on yours now? Any new thoughts? I have yet to throw the ball on a house shot and sent it out and it didn't come back. Seems even stronger playing at an angle then up the boards.

About 12 now, and likely another 6 this week.  I know it's early still but I still love the overall motion.  Even when I do get it to the dry early it doesn't get crazy or bleed off too much energy before the pocket.  Very well possible the most controlled asymmetric ball I've ever thrown...once again, so far.

Just drilled one
3.5-4" pin, 50x5 1/2x90 (used oob).
Pin above bridge, mb 1/4" below thumb, cg 1/2" left of gripline (I'm right handed)

Note: used this for 40+ shots on Kegels Stockholm pattern on DBQ lanebeds (super hard surface)...

Very controlled arc (much like the Critical, maybe not as tumble-heavy as the Critical (not to say  that the Critical is as tumble-heavy as the Nano or Defiant), very pronounced continuation, midlane push (and yes, the colorization seems to play tricks to my eyes, BUT seems to give the ball an illusion of bounce vs. arc/roll of most larger diff assyms.

The Lucid for me has energy retention like one of your stronger symmetrics. Normally for me I don't get the bounce on hi-end assyms (they give me a roll/standup reaction), NOT the case with the LUCID.

In my opinion this is a "unique" piece (ex. Fire Road) with the way it has travels down the lane... Very fitting for today's modern-day league and tourney players.
Kudos on this fine hi-end piece.
