devaney...
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:43:56 AM »
did anyone catch what mike devaney said after he left like 5th 10 pin with his spit fire?

it sounded like he said, "thats guarenteed with that ball" or something along those lines...

just wondering if anyone else caught that.

Yup I caught that comment...

...I doubt he meant it about the SF as a ball, more so his ball reaction / match-up with the ball.

I know he loaned Rhino Page some clothes for the telecast.

I'm suprised he didn't have another NSane LevRG with a different drilling for adjustment.

I don't know I tend to not second guess these guys because I am sure they have a sound reason for making the changes they make.

Well being there, he lost reaction with both NSANES. And in that 10 minute practice window that they had in between matches he started killing with the SF. Also knowing the strengths of your opponent, sometimes you have to mix defense with offesnse.

I have to think if he is going to use the ball in a TV match when he has a chance to win he is going to go to a ball that he likes.

I wouldn't mind having my Spit Fire back for the Scorpion pattern actually...

Thaat's right. He had similar drillings, but the first ball we saw had a higher pin.

You cant second guess the equipment decisions that are made on the show. Everything happens so fast and you just have to trust your instinct and go with it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. The heads went fast yesterday, thats why Mike went to the SpitFire. His comment about "thats guaranteed with that ball" was simply because the ball had some surface on it and it stopped a little.

Did any one else notice how high the pin was on the one n'sane? I looked like it was about 5 inches above the fingers. I don't think there would have been a drilling for the n'sane that would have worked on that.

Try 5 inches from the grip line.

No idea what his surface was on the N'Sane, but if he had another one polished with a similar layout, I'd think he'd have been better off.

Anyone notice how he couldn't stop fidgeting with the MoRich patch once he changed ball companies?  Almost like it was burning his chest or something.

Yes, I did.  I thought he was trying to pull it off, but someone else on another post thought he was trying to keep it from falling off.  It didn't look like it was falling off when he started playing w/it though.
