Difference between Fear Factor and Deuce?
« on: January 04, 2004, 09:58:27 PM »
I know one is Particle and the other is Reactive.
What are the big differences in reaction?
Anyone try these balls both polish and dull?

The fear factor starts up earlier than the deuce and does not backend as hard as a deuce. The fear factor polished gets tons of length for me. The deuce gets more length and more flip polished. Personally, I do not care for the reaction of the fear factor. It is too over/under for me. I need friction right for the ball to roll good for me. I really do not get a good look throwing this ball. The fear factor is a major disappointment to me. The only fear factor I saw roll well was a storm staffer that had the pin above left of middle finger with the cg and rad in line underneath (stack) This ball was polished and looked good on dirt conditions. I am sure that there are a lot of people that really like this ball.

Storm needs to do some tweeking on their coverstocks so that they pick up a little earlier on the lane. When you polish the coverstocks you have to be careful because you could get the cover too polished and the damn thing goes 60 feet down the lane.

I have both the Fear Factor and the X Factor Deuce.  My Deuce is shined up and the Fear Factor is dull.  The Fear Factor starts much earlier and the backend is more mellow, but continuous.  The Deuce goes much farther down the lane with more of a snap in the backend.  I have found the Fear Factor does not work well for me if I try to come around the ball and swing it.  For me, the best results are going more up the back with an end over end roll.  The Fear Factor wants to go into an early roll so let it.  Don't bring the Fear Factor out unless there is oil in the heads.  The Deuce seems more receptive to different releases.  Also it gets through the heads much better.
