Bowler's Journal Ball of the Year

Just got mine today and I was surprised(I'm guessing many of you weren't) that the T-Road Solid was the 07 ball of the year.  I have been on fence with buying this one but I guess I'm the only one.

What's your surface at?  I think if I were to use it, I could use it on this heavier oil house shot I play on but I would still need to polish it and probably set it up differently.

I have drilled a couple of these and 1 league bowler that I have drilled several balls for uses it as the 'first ball out of the bag'.  In general he only gets about 1-2 games out of it before switch to a Domination.  Seems like at box it is a fresh oil only ball.

So I ordered one for myself today but I am planning on taming it before I throw it.  I'm going to bring it to 4000 and I will drill it 5x4.  I am expecting it to be more of a medium oil solid with that prep.

Same core, different cover.  Dark Thunder uses an 'updated' Monsoon cover and T-Road Solid uses R2S.  I was thinking about a Dark Thunder instead but I have more confidence in the R2S on today's lane conditioner.

Welcome to 02 people. IIRC the t-roads use the same or a similar version of the Hot Rod core. The hot rod hybrid was top notch too!

To think this core came out in the mid 90s and it makes a comeback to win ball of the year. It didn't make tv very much and didn't win any titles but i know sales were very strong for it.

i am looking strongly at purchasing a t-road solid.if you check out the storm website and check out the videos from taking it to the street....they recommend the t-road solid alot.i also had a chance to throw the horizon solid....and i loved that ball.didnt buy it but i still might.so i think i would love that storm t-road solid also.ive seen my friends throw the t-road pearl....but ive yet to see the t-road solid.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       my arsenal:morich:total annihulation,nsane levrg     :ebonite:the one,total nv,nvs

Ever since I got "burned" on a Storm Paradigm, I haven't bought any more Storm balls nor have I had a desire to keep up with them. Having not kept up with Storm Balls, my question is ........ What does the T-Road Solid do that other balls don't do that makes it so good as well as good enough to be picked the "Ball of The Year"?

I have to echo Brick's question.. How is a ball picked to be "Ball Of The Year". They are all round, all soak up oil, and if are thrown properly will strike. What makes the T Road Solid stand out from the rest of the balls on the market? I love my Ebonite Clash, I want it to be ball of the year instead!

Um, welcome to 1996.  This core is Storms "go to" core, most companies have one.  It has been used, with some minor tweaks, in at least 15 balls.  Thunderstorm, Blue Thunderstorm, Thunder Road (Hence the new name T-Road), Eraser, Hot Rod
