Title: Dimension!
Post by: RoToE_SLICK on May 27, 2008, 08:04:14 AM
Wow, that was the first thing I said when I threw this ball down the lane. Guys, I don’t post on here much but I felt I wouldn’t be doing this ball any justice if I didn’t come on and let you guys know about the Dimension. First off I want to say I’m not trying to put together an advertisement here but like I said this ball is totally different and a reaction type I have never seen before. I do check the board quite often and as a few of you know I’m always available to help you with anything you may need from Storm / Roto-Grip and Turbo Grips.
The concept behind the core on the Dimension is going to be released very soon on StormBowling.com for those who would like some more technical information on this new design. I drilled two of these monsters one with a weaker pin (5 1/2 inches from PAP) and one with a stronger pin (4 ½ inches from PAP) and got to throw them over the weekend. I immediately thought to myself I have never seen a ball hook like this one. I’m the most comfortable when I bowl when I can throw the ball firm my natural game is definitely speed dominate. This was probably the first time I have thrown on the first shot and thought whoa, I could put polish on this and still use it! Unlike strong asymmetrical balls I have thrown in the past the really tend to slow down in the backend part of the lane and if there is to much friction they burn up or roll out. Not this ball! It gave me the core strength of an asymmetrical but the forgiveness and backend as a symmetrical. Not to mention how strong the R2X solid cover stock is and how versatile it was to change. On a fresh house shot I was able to get farther left and get more backend out of the Dimension then the other bowlers on the pair. I had to try this ball on the Shark pattern, because of my speed sometimes that pattern can give me the hiccups but with the Dimension I had a whole new look that I haven’t had on Shark before. Like I mentioned guys I’m not trying to sell soap here to friends. As a bowler myself, It’s very important for me to find pieces of equipment that will give me the advantage. I still love to bowl all the tournaments I can and this ball will definitely have a spot in my bag. Actually I may be adding another bag just so I can put more then one in my arsenal. Look for the Dimension along with the Rapid Fire Pearl June 20th. Hope to see you soon on the lanes.

I heard essentially what Tyler said from my doubles partner Steve Richter, who got his first Dimensions last weekend.
He said I'd only be able to use it on Shark with my 12 mph ball speed.
Seriously, he said polished it should be a monster for me.
Can't wait till mine arrive.

Thanks Tyler & sorry.  Thanks for the (p)review.  I am looking forward to the dimension.  I am speed dominant myself & was happy to see someone like yourself comment on it.  I've been trying to slow my speed down w/my Gravity some & the only time I get to throw my Attitude w/some speed is 3rd game &/or late 2nd game, when I'm supposed to be using light or medium oil stuff, LOL!!  I want to be able to take whatever ball I buy & not have to change to the ball & layout.  I'm still learning the different gear (coverstocks & cores) & game & just trying to get better.

Riggs, does Richter have any comments about how it compares to a Cell?

I was thinking about getting a Cell to replace my Special Agent for heavier conditions. I was able to throw a Cell at a demo day event and liked it. Now I'll probably hold off until I get more information about the Dimension, or can throw one at the next demo day in my area.

Well at least I know their Cube wasn't a mistake...When I saw it on the website I thought their little graphic was a mistake since the lines are all wrong. I like the colors though, can't wait.

Gotta love the ball with "PENETRATION" written on the side of it in big letters...lol

And, I would love to have that orange ball with the blades on it. I bet that would look cool as heck going down the lane.

After clicking on several things in the "parklanes" link, I realized that I was in the process of ordering the ball I had been looking at! Too bad I don't understand one whit of Japanese, and on the third page got an "ERROR" message. I think I had actually picked the weight, along with a couple other options, then came to a page that was obviously where you had to fill in credit card information. Put in some bogus numbers that didn't process....

  • - Manufacturer: Storm
  • -
  • Material: R2X solid reactive
  • -
  • Finish: #2000

  • RG: It is low - 3 (2.510)

  • RG: 0.048

  • Adaptation lane: Medium heavy ~ heavy oil

    • IN RED:- It was adopted for also previous production gravity shift, the strength + big arc to the oil of the R2S cover, makes the method of attacking the various patterns possible, in addition to the bending where is strong from the moving and back end which with the board in the lane of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers, Shape lock HD core stabilizes, “limited edition” is.

This is the next ball I am going to add to the list of equipment  Sounds awesome!  Speed and a ball that hooks is on my needed list!  Good stuff!!!

Hey guys, I thought I'd chime in here too (thanks Riggs )

I too was sent a couple Dimensions to throw and like Tyler I'm more speed dominant than rev dominant and this ball is STILL hard to hold off at the back of the pattern.  I threw the 6" 60* Dimension (2000 box finish) along side of my 5" 75* CELL with fresh 1000 on it and the Dimension outhooked it by 5 boards at the arrows.  This is a look I've never seen before from Storm and as contradicting as this is going to sound, the look I have is truly great midlane with backend pop.  I haven't monkeyed with the surface yet, but intend to do so soon.

P.S. - Rapid Fire pearl is pretty good too.  Think sooner than the T-Road Pearl but not nearly as whippy down lane.

      It should be SHAPE-Lock Core.
I like the translation to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers, Europe, though!

Thanks for the information Steve. This sounds like a ball and reaction I'd like, since I'm also speed dominant. It sounds like a ball you wouldn't have to slow the ball speed down as much with on oilier conditions.

Yes!  That's exactly what I was thinking & is the main reason I'll be getting one.  I try so hard to adjust my speed & it always throws me off for a couple of frames before I get it just right, & sometimes it's too late.  Tyler's review has pretty much sold me on this one.  I was actually thinking of the cell &/or T-Road solid until I saw this review.

Just a quick update, first night of summer league. 300-221-254 It was a second shift league and I was able to get left of the guys on my pair including Del Ballard Jr ( which was a first for me ). Even though it was a late league with a little Xtra Shine on the cover I was able to get plenty of length and a monster backend with the ball drilled pin over 5 1/2" from my PAP. The way the Dimension goes through the pins is sick, a lot fun to see wood dancing on the deck!
