Dimensions
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:45:34 AM »
Just threw the Dimensions I recieved from Buddies Pro shop, one with a high pin and one with a low pin.
Didn't get a good feel for the low pin Dimension yet but the high pin Dimension just crushes the pins and the carry is great. Both bowlng balls fit perfectly, just need some more time with the Dimension with the pin below the bridge and the CG kicked right.

If the high pin is good, then these lanes may not have the oil required for the low pin, which usually will hook earlier and more (slightly, in both cases). It might be a matter, of just barely not enough. Repeat, "might be".

Hope you kept your ball speed up. (small joke, very small)

((Now, you can expect these little jokes. Ain't that just grand? {{{sorry}}} ))

Thats was what I was hoping Charlest.  I thought that the two ball combination with having one drilled with a high pin and one drilled with a low pin would allow me to know when I needed a ball to go longer or start up earlier realizing that both bowlnig balls need a fair amount of oil.  The Dimension wih the high pin is drilled very similar to the Cell and the back end of the Dimension is noticeably stronger then the Cell.  not taking anything away from the Cell.

The Dimension with the low pin has the pin under the bridge, so maybe the pin is in a weak position? The cg is kicked right and my pap is 4 7/8 and 3/8 up.

The low pin is fairly strong, near as I can tell. It should be around 4"/4.25" pin to PAP. With your release, that low a pin can be early, but you have good ball speed. As I said, I think there's a difference in length but it's not huge. You are probably right on the cusp of usability.

In fact, the thought occurs to me that if they have the same surface, maybe, once you get them settled as to how each reacts, you might want to add some difference with a surface change on the higher pin to maybe 4000 grit Abralon.
Just a wild thought.

Funny - add some polish to your Cell and you have a 3 ball arsenal ....
Polished Cell, high pin Dimension and low pin Dimension.

Thats a great recommendation Charlest. I'll try some Brunswick Rough Buff or some of Bean's Secret Sauce on the Cell and take it to practice.  I used some Rough Buff on my Rival and I'll try that as well.If I had a 1-2-3 punch with the Dimensions and the Cell, I would have half my arsenal for the fall.

Thanks again.

If you use Rough Buff, use it lightly. Remember it is more of a rubbing compound than it is a polish. You can think of it as a VERY aggressive polish. So go lightly you can always add more.

Nic...you might also want to look at the new Valentino products. Nothing but good things said about them in the Coverstock Forum. After reading how well people like them, I decided to see for myself so I ordered some Ressurection and some Snake Oil and those two products are as good as advertised and more for me, anyhow they are.

Thanks Charlest and Brickguy221.  Is there a website for the Valentio products?
