The Natural - Initial Thoughts And a Question
« on: September 29, 2009, 03:35:24 PM »
So, I think I posted a thread about dryer lane balls a while back.  Did some research, and ended up punching up a Natural for me.  It is drilled 4x3.

I got the luxury of bowling with it on a burnt up THS after I got it drilled up, and OOB it was a LOT stronger than I anticipated.  Threw some shine on it, still too strong.  More shine, getting better.  A bit more shine, and it gave me the best look.  So I have it at 2000 Abralon with a whole lot of shine, lol.

My 2nd shift league comes, and come the third game the lanes are hooking at about 5 feet before the foul line.  I took out my really shiny urethane wonder and shot a 195.  I hit the pocket a lot, left a few nasty splits, but otherwise the ball performed quite well.  SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO mellow on the back end, it's almost intoxicating to throw lol.  But so far, I like it.  I'd like to just say thanks to anybody who helped me in my research for a new ball.

I'm going to end up getting myself the other ball I was looking at long and hard, the pearl Jolt, just to give myself a weaker resin ball to compliment my urethane toy.

To those who have one, have you tried the surface at 4000 abralon?  4000 abralon with shine?  If so, what are your reactions like?  I'm thinking about trying 4000 with just a little shine instead of 2000 with a lot.

This ball is a billion times shinier Storm's OOB shiney stuff, lol.

I like it, lol.  I'll be bowling with this ball again probably next TUesday in my 2nd shift league.  I'll be sure to give another update as to my liking of it.  But so far, it's definitely what I wanted, even though it took some polish

I'm gonna be getting a Jolt Pearl.  I figure put a 5x4 on it, pin above bridge, and I have myself a complete and well-rounded arsenal for the dryer stuff.  What is it you ask?  Well let me tell you what I use on the dryer stuff:

Gravity Shift, pin up 4.5x5(MB)
Pyro, pin is drilled same as G. Shift, 4.5x4.5
Jolt Pearl, drilled 5x4
Natural, pin over 4x3
Some random plastic ball with a core
Plastic with a pancake

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Well folks, I've done some practicing with my Natural.  I was having trouble with it and having a really hard time adjusting from a resin reaction shape to a urethane reaction shape.  So I spent a good 4 games today after league to work with it.  The lanes had 5 people bowl 3 games each on it, so it had a good amount of break-downage.

In my research, I have found that I can square up with it, but I have to feed the into the dry a little quicker.  Let's say with resin, I'm standing on 15 looking at 10 at the arrows, with a breakpoint near 7.  With The Natural, I would stand on 15, look at 8 and the ball would mosey back from there.  Trying to keep the ball that little bit inside really hurt the reaction and carry of the ball.  But feeding the ball right a little bit really helped this ball shine.  Some good strikes and I love how mellow this reaction is lol.

I was going to attempt one more surface change, but I like what I have now so I'm going to keep it at 2000 Abralon with enough polish to see myself in, lol.
