Lane Oil is from mineral oil. Which is a byproduct of refining gasoline. So there's plenty of it. The cost is in the engineering and chemists. Each batch must be consistent, carry down a little bit, not carry down too much, hold up to the bowler's new oil-soaking high-flaring ball, and be easily cleaned. And then there's the vast variety of different lane machines that all need certain formulas and viscosities. They have to constantly test and research this. That's what the center is paying for.
