Double Agent

I'm reading the specs on this ball, particle, matte finish, seems like a lot of people want to polish it, making it like a particle pearl.  If I get one and drill it pin up and mb negative (label drilling) can anyone describe the reaction?

Well its hard to say because the ball will react differently for everyone and it hasn't really been out to general public to see what it will do yet, i'm guessing it would be pretty even with a hard arcing backend and polished would be like an earlier Agent.

Here's my theory - I think Storm has created a matter pearl particle ball in order to fit the two needs where they sold both the Trifecta and Ace.  If you leave it box condition you will get a rolly ball a la Trifecta.  If you polish it you will get an earlier polished pearl particle that is a step up from the Pyro.

Sorry, I used to have an AMF AMP (particle pearl) drilled label, it got good length, w/strong arc backend, great recovery.  I'm lookin for something like that, this ball seems to fit (or the ACE).

This ball is a reactor base cover with a 3% particle load. It also has 60% mica ( pearl ) in the cover to give the ball some length through the fronts. I wouldnt exactly consider this ball a true "pearl particle" though. It is closer to the Trifecta than the Pyro. The ball comes with a 1000 grit abralon finish, so it is much smoother than it appears.

Keep in mind that by polishing the ball you will be drastically changing the charactaristics of the ball. You will gain more length and more angle by polishing it. If you leave it box finish you will be getting a very smooth, hard-arching, controlable ball that digs in early and continues better than the Trifecta. I demo'd this ball over the last 2 weeks and the response was pretty good in all 4 cities. My best advice, leave the surface alone.

Jeff,

I get the intent and if I were looking for a Trifecta replacement leaving the box surface makes sense.  The reason I am planning on polishing mine is that I am really looking for a particle ball that will get similar length as the Ace ( a little earlier is OK).  Am I incorrect in my assumption that a polished Double Agent would be a reasonable replacment for an Ace?

I have to agree with Jeff on this one, I'd leave the surface alone and use it on what it's designed for.  If you want a polished Particle Pearl, go with a Pyro.

Wow, thanks for the info Jeff.  So if I were to get one, leave it oob, and give it a label drilling w/pin up, can I expect a similar reaction to my AMF AMP?

greenefam, if you are looking for a replacement to your Ace you should either drill another one or i would sway more towards the Pyro

VAbowler, just use your favorite layout but keep it simple. I'm not very familiar with AMFs product line since they are no longer product registered for use one the National Tour, so i cant make a comparison to the Amp

Well, My AMP was drilled label, w/pin like right above my ring, touching the top right corner of my fingerhole.  This ball oob was particle pearl, came polished,  this ball was great for me b/c it created area, swing it, it came back (on a THS), tug it, it held w/o snapping away.  I'm guessing even though the drilling is relatively weak, the cover/core combo made it strong, it really didn't flip, but a strong arc.  Now bear in mind, I only throw about 15 mph and put more revs than normal (speed deficient), so the weak drilling & cover allowed the ball to slide, while the particle and my revs would make it recover.  The DA seems strong (3% particle), but it comes matte finish even though it's particle pearl?  I would drill this label also, I just wanna know this ball will have some recovery on THS's and etc, and be predictable.
