Drilling question
« on: February 11, 2005, 03:49:53 AM »
I'm just starting to learn the physics of ball layouts.  I believe that it is essential to know the physics of ball reaction if you want to build a good arsenal of equipment.  Currently, I'm working on my drier condition ball and am looking at the Hot Rod Pro Pearl and I'm not exactly sure how I want to drill it.

I do have a question.  I know that in general, the further a pin is from the PAP, the later the reaction.  But what effect does the CG placement have?

In particular, I'm looking at the Pro Layout #1, which has a 5" pin with about a 5 1/2" CG (MB in track).  Storm's specs say that this produces length with a medium backend reaction.  Does that mean early arcing or late hooking backend?  More importantly, how would that reaction differ if the CG were kicked over to 4" or even 3"? (more side weight)

If you're curious, I'm a righty, avg revs, avg speed...a tweener...
