Black Widow or Storm Pyro?
« on: January 02, 2007, 01:53:37 PM »
Hey guys. New to the boards. I am just getting back into bowling after nearly 10 years of almost no bowling at all. The last time I bowled actively I was using a hand me down ball, which is the same ball I’m using today. Needless to say, the ball is old and doesn't have much action left. Upon doing some research and speaking with the local pro-shop, I am down to either buying a Black Widow or a Storm Pyro.

While the Black Widow seems to be a very popular ball, it is very intimidating to me. I am not used to such a powerful ball. The other thing that scares me is I tend to bowl quite a few games in one sitting. For instance tomorrow there is a lane that has $6 cover and 25 cent games. My friend and I will probably bowl 10 games a piece if not more. By game number 4 will I even be able to keep the thing on the right side?

I'm considering the Pyro only because the guy at the pro-shop said it's a good ball and will do a little better on dry lanes. Anybody know anything about this ball? The reviews seem to be OK but it doesn't seem nearly as popular as the BW.

A little background on me: I'm right handed, bowl a 170 average, about average speed, low to medium revs. Right now I'm standing right foot on the center dot throwing to about the 7 board.

Now I'm all for learning how to bowl all over again since I'm not in a league right now (planning on joining one soon), but the BW just intimidates the living hell out of me. Does the Pyro work much better on dry lanes than the BW?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for reading my long winded post.

Mike

Thanks for the quick reply. I will certainly check into the Hammer Toxic. I feel so lost trying to find a new ball. I'm thinking about going back to the pro-shop tomorrow since I know somebody else is working. Maybe he can give me a few ideas as well (a second opinion if you will). Thanks again for the quick reply and I'll definitely check out that Toxic.
