Electrify BSY Review
« on: May 05, 2023, 11:10:55 AM »
Layout: 4.5 x 3 x 3
Surface: Light 2000 abralon

The Electrify BSY is a new color Electrify Pearl for 2023.  This ball brings back the Circuit Core and the Reactor Pearl coverstock finished with Reacta Gloss.  Very similarly to the Electrify GO, this Electrify BSY is not as shiny out of box with the Reacta Gloss from the factory.  This helps the ball read the oil a little sooner and be more continuous as opposed to as angular.  I was able to test this ball on my typical house pattern. What I found was a cleaner and pretty continuous shape down lane.  Compared to the GO, I found a little smoother motion overall.  It didnt give me a crazy angular backend motion that was more in the GO.  This BSY to me felt more of a benchmark lower end symmetrical ball.  The BSY read the midlane a little stronger overall compared to the more recent Electrify balls and continued better as if it had higher differential in the core.   I can see myself using this on the fresh for a dry house pattern or as a 2nd ball out of the bag when there is a little more oil.  For more  challenging patterns, this should control the lane the best when the pattern is medium to lighter oil or shorter oil conditions.

I drilled up my ELECTRIFY B/S/Y with a standard drilling of 4 x 4 x 2. This is my favorite drilling for balls with lower differentials to get them to flare up a little more and not go too straight at the break point. I tried box surface then hit it with a 2000 abralon pad to get the gloss off.

The ELECTRIFY B/S/Y is one of those balls that was definitely better when the lanes were hooking quite a bit for me. I put it up against some of my newer pieces like the DUO, ZEN GOLD, and DARK CODE to get a feel even though these were apples to oranges.

Against the DUO, it wasn't a bad compliment especially when the 2000 was applied. It made them play off one another a little better than the ZEN GOLD or DARK CODE. Both of those were too angular compared to the ELECTRIFY B/S/Y and were not the same motion.

I would say the ELECTRIFY B/S/Y would be a good option if you have a high friction environment like older wood or really worn panels on synthetics and need something to get down the lane and make a smoother move to the pocket.

One of my favorite go-to balls of all time!

Being a fan of the Electrify series, I couldn’t wait to drill this one up! I’ve found that with the B/S/Y I have the ability to move further right and still get the ball to the pocket with minimal effort on dryer conditions. I find that this ball gives me a very similar reaction to the original Electrify Pearl so if you enjoyed the Pearl, you definitely want to add this to your bag.
