Evil Siege-----Storm?
« on: April 12, 2010, 07:52:16 AM »
I throw nothing but Storm and Roto. I won the Evil on a ball raffle and don't have any idea what to expect. What Storm ball will the Evil be closest to.

This ball rolls early unless you have a ton of side roll.  I'd say the 5x5 isn't a bad idea.  The demo ball I threw had about a 4 inch pin to PAP for me, with maybe a 1 inch pin buffer. It would roll out from deeper angles and cross straighter.

Also, polish might be your friend with this ball.

Yes that is another thing i have heard. I already knew that Storm is long and flippy. The thing i heard is that Burnswick stuff tends to be earlier. Has anyone else experienced this or heard about this being true.

Brunswick has always rolled really early for me. Although I had a Zone Classic that worked great for me, other than that I've never had much luck with them. They make some good stuff, but I don't personally match up with them.

What I would do if I were you is try to remember some of the stuff that you had the did start earlier, and decide if you want to take that chance again. Chances are the Evil will be earlier than even your earliest Storm.

Of course not. Guess what, it won't be earlier than a virtual gravity or a Reign of Terror.

It's a 4000 grit pearl with a strong mass bias, no more, no less. Drill it right, use it on the right oil amount and you're good to go. It's not poison.

If you're so worried about it, I'll take it!

Seriously, it gets through the fronts well, and doesn't go wild on the backend, but holds its own. If you are worried it will startup too early, using a higher sum of angles, and keep the pin the the strong range 3.5-4.5"

If it rolls too soon for you still, put put a polish over that 4000 finish, and she'll be much more responsive to friction

I'm not worried i'm just a little curious of what to expect. So here is my best plan i think. I already know i can't drill it pin up because i want it to be stronger than my Virtual. But i do want something pin down that will get through the heads but still do a dance on the backend. So what pin down drilling will do that if there is one.

Unless you put a good bit more surface on this, it won't be stronger than the virtual gravity.  It rolls alittle sooner, but it's not nearly as strong throughout the lane at OOB finish.

Wait, you have a Virtual Gravity, an Invasion, and you want something to fit in between those two?

That's just overkill IMO.  Use this as a ball to handle less oil than your VG.

Have to agree with noodlejester.

The Evil Siege should fit just below the VG unless you changed the surface or put some strange drilling on it. It's basically a medium to medium+ oil ball for the average revs, average ball speed player, handling just shy of medium-heavy oil which the VG covers.

Ok thats an even better idea.
So then my Arsenal will be ... In order from Dry to Heavy oil
Team Storm
Natural
SD-73(Pin Axis)
Rapid Fire(5x4)(pin up)
ROF(5x4)(pin up)
Evil Siege(?)
Virtual(4x4)(pin to the left of the ring finger)
Invasion(Same a Virtual)

Now to the question mark. What drilling would be good for the Evil to fit there.

High Game = 299
High Series = 816
Revs/Speed = 300rpm at 15-17 mph

I like that spot a lot for your Evil Siege.  It will fill the gap from Virtual to Reign of Fire well.

With your revs and speed, I would personally put a 5 inch pin to PAP, 3 inch MB to PAP.  I would put a like, 3 inch buffer from pin to VAL to help smooth out the transition downlane.  This drilling for me and my friend get the ball down lane pretty easily, with a smoother but pronounced move to the pocket.  It's not insanely angular, but it will continue through the deck no problem.
