Which Ball?
« on: May 19, 2009, 06:19:51 PM »
I am looking for a good Heavy Oil ball in the Storm Line. Whether it be new to the market or 3-4 years old. I have read good things about the Special Agent and the XXXtreme.  Can anyone give me some insight on this?

From Storm, the Virtual is the strongest ever made. At 4000, for me, it was over/under. I then took it to 2000 and this thing came to life. I could only imagine what it would do at 1000 abralon. Trust me, this ball is for real when it comes to heavy volume and long patterns.

I have the Special Agent, and it not near as strong as the Virtual at the same surface even though the Special actually has a stronger layout. The cover on the Virtual (R2X) is simply stronger than that of the Special Agent (R2S).

What speed and how many revs do you throw strikestrike? I throw a Thunderstruck Pearl and it has some hook in oil but not sure how it will do in the heavier volumes.

The Thunderstruck Pearl is a good ball for med/light conditions. For TRUE heavy oil with length, it won't wrinkle. You need a strong solid. I have med/low revs but with good speed of around 16 MPH.

The Thunderstruck believe it or not is more for med-med oily. This ball has some aggression that Storm never quite talked about at least for me it does.  I am a high rev 15-16 mph thrower and this ball is that way.  I guess that is why i am kind of worried about going with something as strong as the VG.

I agree with you about the furious.....it looks to be an outstanding ball and I do have my eye on that one.  I am going to Nationals in June and have read so much about the SA and the XXXtreme, but at the same time everyone is pointing toward the VG.  I have a lot of uncontrollable revs and I am worried that if I were to get the VG that it would be way to much for me and a worthless buy.  I know that nothing from Storm is worthless but if you can't throw it for any reason....it pretty much is.

hey  bigdog85222 i was in the same boat you are with the virtual gravity with my revs 400-500. i was really worried about buying the VG but i did it because of nationals. alot of the guys i bowl with went before i did and said you really need a VG. this ball is just plain sick for the heavy and longer patterns. when i got to vegas and threw it for the first time i was so impressed with it. with its 4000 abrlon cover i was surprised how much length and backend snap it had for an oiler. i was impressed so much that i bought another one in vegas and polished it for when the lanes dried up. the polished one got even further down the lane with a more violent change of direction at the pins. i pretty much used these 2 balls all week and was not dissappointed.and i am not really a fan of storms stuff but the VG is the real deal. go ahead and pull the trigger and get one you will love it. if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask i will help you out the best i can. good luck in vegas.
