Favorite Storm ball
« on: May 23, 2010, 11:26:02 AM »
I have used Storm/Roto Grip for over 10 years now and just wondering what others feel was their favorite ball from Storm.  Mine is the Hyroad.  I think this ball is so versitle because of the hybrid cover and core combo.  At one time after this ball came out, my six ball line-up included 4 hyroads with different drillings and surfaces.  I had one Strong ball above them and one weak ball below.  This line-up got me some very good scores and places in tournements.

I absolutley love my gravity shift, first ball out of the bag. My pyro was good until it cracked, debating on getting another to fill the void

The original gravity shift was definitely one of my favorites. Very versatile in oil and in broken down conditions. The carry was on a level of its own. I also had a ton of success with a thunderstruck pearl.

I did like the VE but for me it was really shot conditional.  I'm not sure if it was the layout or what, but I even tried different surfaces on it.  The only thing I used mine for was on the Viper pattern once you started getting carrydown, but my Cell Pearl worked better for this once I got it.

Gotta go with the Triple X Factor Xtreme.  This is still my benchmark ball, and also does a great job on a broken down pair when pearlized stuff is just diving at the headpin, it gets through the heads, and it smooths out the reaction downlane with enough energy to go through the pindeck.

Close second would by my pearlized teal and purple tropical storm.  I have bowled both of my 800's using this ball, one on fresh, one on a second shift and this ball is amazing, especially at the price point.
