Jolt Pearl Questions
« on: September 20, 2009, 07:43:18 AM »
Hey Storm Troopers, quick question:

I'm looking to get a weaker ball.  Right now, the weakest resin ball I have is the Pyro, which isn't exactly weak.  Reactor cover gets down the lane easier than the newer R2S/R2X, but the core makes this ball want to hook like there's no tomorrow once it sees dry.  I'm looking to get something a little less jumpy once it sees dry boards.  I'm looking at the Jolt Pearl.  Who out here can tell me about this ball?  Has anybody thrown this ball AND a Pyro/Fired-Up or T-Road Pearl?  Differences?

I figure the older/milder cover and much weaker core will help the ball scoot down the lane and make a nice turn.

FWIW: This ball will basically only be for dryer THS/2nd shift THS.

Instead of the resin coverstocks. Look no further than the Natural. Urethane cover really helps it get down the lane. I'm loving mine for the drier/2nd shift at my house so far.

I really like my Jolt Pearl alot as a
smooth back-end motion. The Jolt Pearl
is a little longer and as a smoother
back-end motion than the T-ROAD PEARL
My PYRO is drilled were it doesn't jump off the dry
hard it comes off the dry really SMOOTH.

hey never give up, thanks for the information.

Just curious, how similar are the drillings of the Jolt Pearl/T-Road Pearl/Pyro?

Pyro is a much stronger overall ball than the Jolt Pearl. The T-Road Pearl is just a slight step under the Pyro IMHO, even though I'd call it smooth and controllable. But teh cover reacts more drastically to friction than the good old Accu Tread on the Jolt.

The Jolt should be a good ball to play up the boards. IMO, the Natural would be (from the current arsenal) the closest thing if you look at lane conditiosn and utility, and a Tropical might also fit your bill, bit it would (again) by tendency be flippier than the Jolt.

As an alternative, you might also check into the Ogres from Visionary (Pearl or SS), as well as the Avalanches. The Green/Black Avalanche with PK18 pearl is through its concept and "old school" cover very close to the Jolt Pearl.

I use my Jolt Pearl as my comedown ball from a Black Vibe on a THS. This ball is the weakest in my bag as well. But, this is also the ball I start out with on Shark, as it keeps my angles straight in the track. When the pattern blows up there, I like to club up to open it up after games 2 to 3. Great cover on this ball, as it is the same as the old X-Factor. You can find them on eBay at a very low price as I am on my 5th one. As soon as this one burns up, I know I will buy another one and lay it out the same.

Highly recommend it for the burn
