fear factor
« on: February 24, 2004, 07:45:25 AM »
works great for me on wood lanes.  (fairly dry) i bought it for heavy oil lanes but i cant get it to hook for me.  i stand 1 dots from left and when i put it out to the right it just stays there.  no movement what so ever.  i dont throw and agressive shot but jeezzz dosent do much.  its drill to go long and snap hard.  only doing half the job right now.  should i stand dead middle and try that?  i've been bowling for 3 years.  its the first storm ball i have tried.  had it 3 weeks now.  but i can say when it hits, it hits!

Hi funk , I bought the Fear Factor and i play on wood lanes that are very slick and oily. I drilled my ball with weight block shifted pin above ring finger and RAD by the thumb hole. I usually use most of the lanes when i bowl, but on the slick oil surface i had the  same problem as you the ball would slide out too much to recover.
I changed my line because of this, i usually stand on the left side about 3rd arrow and i push the ball out to the right about 3rd arrow, and on medium conditions my ball rolls well carrys in the midlane and i have no problem scoring.
On the heavy oil , i don't think i put enough revs and speed on the ball for it to hold that line so i move toward the middle and i go alot straighter . I don't think its ball i think its more so the way i bowl, theres 3 other guys in my league with the Fear Factor and they have no problem with it . I just think its the way i had it  drilled and my way of bowling that makes me take a different line.
Try to adjust to the center a little bit like you said and see if you can find your way to the pocket better. You could also sand it down if you wanted to but i think if you adjust a little bit you wont have the problem anymore. Had the ball for about 6 months  hits hard for me and i love it . I hope i was helpful.

yes ty was very helpful.  i dont put alot of revs and my speed is around 14mph.  i think i will move towards middle and find a line that will get me to the pocket.  i love the way it hits.  when i do get near the pocket, it hits and carries great.  also i through a 16lb ball.  do u think a 15 would do me better?

I through a 15 pound ball switched from a 16 cause i bowl alot of games and it takes a little stress off my arm. But over all i don't see a big difference between a 16 and a 15. I think the only difference is that a 15 pound ball deflects better off the pins. For me  the 16 pound ball hits  just the same as a 15 pound ball .
15 might give you a little bit more speed, for me it didn't, some say a 15 carries better, but over all i don't see a big difference.  Glad i was able to help.

Sometimes that happens to me too the ball hooks too much and i get too much of the head pin. Hopefully on monday night  i could break out of my slump lol

well i've done better.  233, 190, 199.  man that fear factor is amazing.  only left 2 10's and 1 7 pin tonight.  did manage to throw a few dumb shots and left a few splits but i guess thats all in the game.
