My fired up has the pin 1" above the fingers and the cg at 5 o'clock-luv it. I usually a strong stroker and can even crank it in practice(this really too far off my game though)I know this ball is for medium oil, but has anyone gone down lower that 1500 grit polish as it is out of the box?

I've hit it with a gray or green scotch brite...really picks up the mids better.

I liked mine at 1500/polished but I got curious a couple of weeks ago and hit it with blue scotchbrite (1000 grit) and knocked the shine off the ball.  All I can say is...WOW!!!  HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!  Still gets down the lane with ease but no more squirtting through the breakpoint...and the backend is STRONG through the pins...even moreso than when it was at 1500/polished!

Almost had my first 700 this past week using it...a couple of whiffs on single-pin spares and a nasty, pocket 8-10 in the ninth frame of the last game cost me...

I use a white pad on mine which is supposed to be around 1100, and the ball is absolutely phenominal.. Factory was a bit squirty, now it still gets through the heads clean and gives me a consistent break point....Unless you consistenly have clean backends, this is a must do for this ball.....I have 23 games on that ball with that surface and I am averaging 223 with that ball.  A no brainer to knock the shine off of this ball.....

Hey Thanks for the imput. Now, when you talk about the scotch brite pads, are you doing it by hand or pro shop equiptment?

I use a spinner to start, then everytime I clean it, I use it by hand, and its keeps the cover much cleaner and in good shape...
