I'm getting back into bowling after a year long break -- and throwing my first Storm ball in an even longer time. I used to be big on Storm back in the days of the T-Roads but drifted into other companies.
I picked up this Pitch Blue and had it plugged and redrilled. I am a lower revs/speed stroker and my preferred line is anywhere outside the 10. I like urethane because although I sacrifice carry I can stay on the outside all day while people chase the oil inside.
I played a few games with this ball at OOB and found it to be very inconsistent. Had one good outing with it where I watched the ball lope down the lane and just roll into the pocket. Strikes with what appeared to be zero pin action and even some light mixers. The next day I could not find a consistent line to the pocket. Being urethane it never over-reacts, but the ball of course does not come back and I just couldn't find the line. These were both on house shots which had seen some play before me.
So I threw some polish on it (Lane #1 Secret Sauce) and took it out again. This time I got exactly what I wanted, which is a ball to play right down the first arrow. I hit the pocket every time and never left more than one or two pins which were easy pick-ups. I had a good area to play with between the 3-8 boards stayed only moved two boards on the approach over three games. When I can put up 190-200 on a broken down shot with urethane I know I am in good shape. I would have been struggling with reactive to keep it that consistent.
It does make me wonder about the Fever Pitch, which I suspect is both stronger and more forgiving.
Anyway just thought I'd share. I'll post a review when I get more games under my belt.
