Frantic Problem
« on: October 14, 2012, 09:14:23 PM »
I have been having issues with my Frantic.

The ball just doesn't seem all that aggressive. Heck my Storm Reign, and Seismic Aftermath Pearl are much stronger off the spot. It just seems to meander into the pocket with horrible carry, no pop at all.

Now my Reign and Aftermath are drilled pin down with cg kicked out, and the Frantic is drilled pin up above ring finger with cg kicked out, but seems to be sooner than the other balls.

I was thinking about shinning it up to get it down the lane further but am afraid it will be way to weak then.

Need some thoughts, thanks in advance.

We have some similarities, being LH tweeners. I personally avoided this ball because I felt it too cover dominant for tweeners, not to say that it couldnt be thrown and have success. It seemed too strong in the friction and not enough in oil as you migrate in. Seemed to just be too over/under, hyroad cover, weaker core. Just my opinion. With that said, i would take to a pair of lanes and practice with the ball in the house you're struggling in and throw the ball at different surfaces you found one that you liked.  Start at 4000, then 2000, and on down until you found one you liked.
The ball might also need a weight hole considering pin above and depending on how far the cg is out. The pin down equipment may be a longer pin to pap which is why you're getting more backend out them, whereas the pin up may be shorter getting the ball to flare more so it hooks sooner. Surface, however, would be the cheapest and better option.

Yes I find the same thing. If I try to go up the boards its just way to strong, I cant keep it in the pocket. But as soon as I migrate inside its just not strong enough to turn the corner, allot of corner pins.

I just seem to be stuck in between with this ball.

Yep,tweener hell.Been there,Done that.More surface should help.
The more I practice,the luckier I get.

Is someone recommending some surface??

I agree. Try 4000, then if you don't like it, 2000. Which house is the issue?

Because you can play straighter with it at BG, but not at Wooddale, because it's dryer?

Given how much friction I remember there being at Wooddale, I would try 4000 for sure. That should still make it usable at BG. You go to 2000, you run the risk of not being able to play straighter with it at BG.
