gravitiy shift

Does the gravity shift have a strong mid-lane read or is it just length and backend?

What bowling balls from the other ball makers can the Gravity Shift be compared to?  I'm trying to get a read on the type of reaction to expect from the Gravitiy Shift.  I have been using Hammer 95 percent of the time the last 2 seasons.

Chitown, I have a Gravity & it does read the mid lane & does have a good backend as well.  I never had the pleasure of throwing the Paradigm, but I think I've read on here some posts of guys saying they are "similar" not identical.

Thanks for the info Monster.

I was really considering getting a spit fire but would have to order it from the pro-shop.  My guy has Gravity's in stock and was thinking of just picking up one of those.  I'm still up in the air about it at the moment but glad to hear the ball has good mid-lane read.

Just so I understand, how do you go from a Spitfire to a Gravity Shift?
Aren't they two very different balls for very different conditions, or
at least, two very different release?
Or do you just want a new "toy"?

The Gravity looks like a very nice "toy", indeed!

I had both and I would say the Gravity is overall stronger, especially in the midlane, than the Pardigm.  Pardigm was better for me on flatter patterns and the Gravity reads in the oil better where the Paradigm would tend to squirt and over hook.

Charlest, I think because he pro shop has a Gravity in stock & the Spit would have to be ordered, thus the wait, LOL.  I'm kind of impulsive that way sometimes. He sees that Gravity taunting him while he ponders having to wait for the Spit, cannot resist, cannot resist............

Been there, err, ... am there, 99% of the time. Takes power or some external force (like wife or view of current budget) to make you take a step back.

That was the reason for my question: "Or do you just want a new "toy"?.

Wish I had someplace to even contemplate using a Gravity Shift.

Without question the Gravity Shift reads the mid lane.  I was plsently surprised.  On shorter oil patterns, the ball would burn up for me. Much earlier then the Shift. Never threw the Paradigm.  But with longer oil, the Gravity Shift was tremendous off the break point.

I have both balls and they are both great balls. I drilled the Paradigm stacked leverage and the Gravity pin 4.5 from the pap, mb at 60 degrees and val at 30 degrees. My Paradigm gives me a stronger overall reaction and reacts well on heavier conditions. The Gravity compared to the Paradigm is more lengthy and flippy and better suited for medium lane conditions. It reminds me of a stronger version of the X-factor. The difference is reaction is probably due to different drilling on each ball. Stacked leverage gives you the most continuous hook whereas the Gravity drilled with a 2 inch buffer (val 30 degrees) gives me a very strong reaction in the back. I use the Gravity when my Cell starts to burn up. By the way the Cell is an awesome ball and probably one of the best ball I ever bowled with.

Charlest, just looking to try out a Storm ball!  I've only owned one Storm ball (paradigm) and was considering trying another one.

Like Monster Said, my pro shop guy has several Storm balls in stock but doesn't have a Spit Fire.  I didn't want to wait because the last day of league is this Sunday and would like to try it out on a tough pattern.

What ball in the current line is similar to the Spit Fire's reaction?

Since they are two different balls for different patterns or bowlers, isn't one more appropriate for you and for where you're bowling? (Unless, of course, you're bowling in 2 different houses.)

I'd suspect a polished Surefire is the closest in overall reaction to the Spitfire. Other, more distant relations are a Thunderstruck Pearl or the new Street Rod Pearl?

Charlest, I bowl many different places.  I only bowl in one league but there's many different patterns used thru out the season.  Then there's tourney's to think about.

I'm sure both are very good bowling balls and I could match up with either of them.  The trick is to get a few different bowling balls to give you different looks on the lanes.
