I drilled up a Gravity during the end of March and played with the surface a little bit and now the ball doesn't move. Has anybody had anything like this happen to them? I talked to Schlemer at Jr Gold and he said hit it with 1000 and throw some polish on it, so I did and it didn't work. Does anybody know what to do to save it?

I'd sand it way down, give it some hot water baths to get the oil out, then put it back at box finish (1500 polished(

My Gravity has many many games on it and it's still curving. Forget the hot water bath. Just plain clean it! Bust the cover down with a 500 grit abralon, then a 1000 and polish. I usually wipe my balls down with water and a rag after polishing to get rid of any residue.

I think the Gravity may be quite sensitive to cover changes. I konw that I noticed my Gravity's cover began to start picking up a bit more, so I hit it with a bit of polish and it went straight as a dart. I hit it with Resurrection and Snake Oil on a spinner, and it's not bad at all now. Still a hair earlier than what I'd like, but it's really close to OOB. Try those products, and see if that works. If not, hot water bath it.

Just curious why do you say "Forget the hit water bath"?

I know many of folks subscribe to bathing their ball. Raise your hand if you think a cover is so porous that water sinks into it and lifts the oil out. Water is just removing the surface level oil, the same oil you can remove with a good cleaning and roughing of the surface. Since summer is here, throw it in your trunk and wrap it in a towel. It will sweat like a fat man in a sauna. LOL

I have thrown my Gravity strong since March and I'd hate to think how many games are on it. No bath, no oven, heck, I don't even clean it like some fanatics and it's still going...

The heat draws the oil up, and the water washes it away. That's why you dunk it 3-5 times.

I use Lane Masters Cleaner well known as one of the strongest if not the strongest cleaner on the market. I use it after every set and still pull oil out of the ball when I give Hot Water treatments once a month. I'm not saying it is the best method but my equipment still works like it did when it was new.

I was having the same problem as the original poster. I personally think its the polish that is being used. The first coupla times I did it I used a polishing machine at my alley. It was a dart no matter what grit it was at. This last time I hit it with 1500 grit then I used the storm reacta shine. It has the exact same reaction OOB now.

Alot of polish machines in bowling alley's still use wax versus polish wish could very well turn an aggressive ball into a dart.

I had the same problem, called Storm Tech support. They suggested to hit ball with 1000 abralon on six sides, then use step 2 on the same six sides. Have not had a chance to try yet. Will post back on results.

You are right about those machines having "wax blocks" in them. The pro shop I go to buys a special resin polishing block for those folks that just have to subject their rocks to a machine.

The wrong product will stop your balls from performing in a heartbeat!

Just got back from throwing it. That fixed it. Sanded with 500 abralon for 15 seconds on six sides, then 1000 abralon for 20 seconds six sides. Finally using step 2 for 20 seconds six sides. Also storm tech said use light pressure with abralon and some elbow grease when using the step 2.
