I presume the parameters for your comparison would be 4.5" pin to PAP, OOB finish, and lets just say the MB on the Shift at 60 deg.?
These two should be equally strong, the Shift being very slightly earlier due to the particles, but remember, it's a particle pearl being compared to a solid, so they can stack up pretty evenly.
IMHO the Shift is going to be more responsive to surface changes and will be more reaction shape tunable (backend reaction) than the RapidFire.
If Dave feels otherwise I'd go with his opinion and not mine. After all... he's drilled both of these numerous times.

PS - I think the particle load in the Shift makes it a more appropriate choice for sport shots. Takes a little of the snap out of the reaction to the dry boards.
