Considering how much I absolutely love this ball, I think this thread is essential.
I have mine drilled 4.5 pin to PAP, 4.5 MB to PAP, about an inch above the midline.
Why I love my Gravity:
- It rolls SO smoothly off the spot, almost like a solid
- It's insanely predictable
- I know when it's too weak (usually longer patterns for me)
- I know when it's too strong (almost never)
- It's the first, and right now ONLY ball that can open up the lane when I need to move deeper.
- The carry is phenomenal
- The ball must have a good 60-75 games on it now (I don't even know to be honest) and all I've done is clean it after each set. No reaction death, no anything death for that matter.
- It's just the most versatile ball I've ever seen, period.
- R2X coverstock is the best since Accu-Tread
Gravity Shift - I love you.

I have one and sitting on a perfect spec NIB ball, great ball does not squirt too much and always picks up the lane nice and has big backend movement for me.
-
I love my Gravity Shift, and agree with everything you said. It is my favorite ball in my arsenal. Unfortunately, I don't get to use it too much, as the lanes are usually toast when I hit them (our league is the third one to hit the lanes on Wednesday nights, which doesn't leave a lot of oil out there).
I also love my T-Road Pearl. Storm balls seem so strong, predictable, and have a good shelf life with a little maintenance. I just picked up a 900 Global Break Pearl from Pro Shop Guy on this board--can't wait to compare it to these two balls!

I got one but havn't thrown it in a while... I liked it though
-
I picked up a twice-drilled Gravity Shift with probably 40-50 games on it from a buddy of mine for $30 a few months ago. I plugged it, redrilled it, and now use it quite frequently. It's still the strongest pearl I've thrown except for the Cell Pearl (got to compare them head-to-head in a Storm/Rotogrip Open House this weekend, Cell Pearl was stronger overall, but a little longer). I have it finished with Resurrection and a light coat of Snake Oil, and it's a beast. Very rolly, but strong on the backend, which lets me move in and swing it once there's some friction. The Gravity Shift and the Dimension are the two balls I use about 90% of the time now. I love this R2X coverstock.
-
If you like the Gravity may I suggest that I have found the HY-Road to be a great complement ball. In shorter oil I gets a bit more length with a very similar strong predictable roll off the spot.
-
Have to agree with everyone here... Best ball i've owned in a long time. I can use it all the time to since we have a morning shift. (what retard starts a league at 10am on a Saturday...?)

I agree, the R2X cover is amazing. I have a Dimension for the heavier stuff when Gravity is too much. It gets down the lane cleaner to be honest, but it just carves UP the oil. The motion off the spot is similar, with the Dimension being pretty awesome too.
I saw a Virtual Gravity yesterday morning on a fresh I'd say medium THS. The thing left a lot of splits, too strong for the pattern I'd say. But the ball never had trouble getting into a roll. Considering I'm in absolute love still with my Paradigm Passion (whenever I get a chance to use it these days), I won't be needing the VG anytime soon. But I do hope that Storm uses the R2X in a weaker core, maybe a light-bulb. I think it would be a great shorter / lighter volume ball.

Where's the figjam police guy when we need one? LOL. Great couple of series though. The Gravity is a really good ball. It has a nice roll arc & finish to the pins. My other balls, Attitude & Shift, are more angular. Right now I mainly use those 2. But, up next, probably a Virtual at some point to go w/my Gravity.

You think thats a figjam, the past two weeks prior to that I used my Dimension for a 279 triplicate 837, and 299 the week after for 738!!!!

W/scores like that, where were you on Sunday?

Most definitely agree with everyone here! Gravity Shift has been a very pleasant surprise!!! At first, left it OOB and was too strong off the dry for my liking. Bowled several weeks in OOB, so I hit it with Resurrection and Snake Oil ..... BOOM!!! that did it. Strong arcing motion... predictable which makes it quite easy to read.
Simply love it!
P.S. Don't be afraid to alter the cover. Takes nicely to change

I don't have one, but I've been wondering for a while how much oil it can handle OOB, and how much more it could handle at dull surfaces such as 1000 or 2000 abralon. The reason I ask is because I'm convinced that any polished pearl for me can't handle more than medium oil, and even then I think it'd be a bit over/under. And even though it's been said this is a strong pearl, I think even if I dull it up a bit it wouldn't handle a whole lot more than medium oil. From the sounds of it, it's supposed to be stronger than everything in Storm's current line, except the Virtual Gravity, Dimension, Attitude Shift, and T-Road Solid.
-
I too love this gem and if they didnt cost so much I would buy atleast 2 more. I roll it on anything from dry to the shark. Today I bowled on the shark and played in territory which is normally OB for most balls(25 to 15) with the polish knocked off at 1500 and it was a dream gave me room didnt have to move over the course of 6 games at all with 3 others rolling on the same lanes and will hit it with polish this week and get it ready for league on some of the driest lanes you will find in the area.

I'm speed dominant and can't use pearls very often. (My Spit Fire comes out of the bag about once a month usually!) However, I get a lot of use from my Gravity Shift. I have NOT used it in the OOB condition since it had been resurfaced when I bought it. I used Resurrection and a coat of Snake Oil applied by hand, so it's at a medium surface grit with a light polish. I see longer, heavier oil on synthetic lanes on Tuesday nights, so I leave corner pins on fresh oil with it, but once the heads break down some after a game or two, it's great. On Saturday and Sunday nights on wood lanes, I'm able to use the Gravity Shift pretty frequently depending on what the lanes are like that night, even if the oil volume is higher. It's earlier and stronger than other pearls I've seen, but also has more of a continuous, arcing motion on the backend than most pearls as well!

I like all the ones i sold! they made me lots of money in sales.

I'm sorry I couldn't be the guy you're looking for, Strider.

I shot like 100 300s and 10 800s in like 2 weeks with this ball its like OMG. Here entertain your feeble mind Igetnonealot.

I'll get you the next time you really pat yourself on the back.

I've got a NIB sitting at home and refuse to drill it up. I can't imagine how much success I'd have to report!

In all seriousness, this piece seems to be one of Storm's most popular on tour. Most of the staffers that were using this pill were stepping down in drillings throughout a block as opposed to "balling down".
Was this the first Storm release to utilize the R2X coverstock?

Not trying to say I am good, trying to make the point that the ball is good. That was the point of the thread.
If I was trying to make the point that I was good I would have mentioned scores from a ball that was thought to be bad.
-
Shooting those scores on house china doesn't make the ball good. Those scores can easily be shot with ANY ball on house china.
-
If I had this ball, I would shoot 800 with it, like I just did last week... HAHAHA...

That's some broken logic. Just the same, it's possible to shoot a 900 series with any ball on the US Open shot if you execute well! Dude, we get it -- high scores on easy shots doesn't mean as much as high scores on a tougher shot. You can shut up about it now because nobody f'ing cares. Well, except you.

Dan, at the heavier oiled synthetic lanes, what ball works well on that until there's enough dry for the Gravity Shift? My specs are more matched or slightly rev dominant so I would be able use the ball on slightly heavier oil than you I believe. In the past, pearls have normally given me over/under when polished so I'd probably like the ball at 1000 or 2000(one of which I assume is similar to your Resurrection + Snake Oil). I just don't know how much oil that would be good for, which is why I ask what ball works for you until there's more of a defined dry area at the oilier house.

Until I break in a nice friction spot, I use my Dimension (http://"http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/5461/dimensionlo7.jpg") at 2000 abralon. My Gravity Shift has a very similar drill, pin is maybe 1/4" weaker, MB is about an inch right of the edge of the thumbhole. Once the lanes start to dry, I pick up my ball speed to the higher end of my comfort zone, then start moving inside gradually. Once I move more than two or so boards with the Dimension, I just switch to the Gravity Shift and depending on how the lanes transition I might move another board or two left. The lightly polished pearl cover lets me get through the front part of the lane much easier once they start to break down, so my carry is usually better with the Gravity Shift at that point than the Dimension.
