Gravity Shift Cover Adjustments
« on: February 26, 2008, 04:43:57 AM »
Has anyone had any success making tweaks to the cover on the Gravity Shift?  If so what changes did you make and what were the results?

Thanks in advance for everyones help

I have not messed with it BUT mine rolls a lot better through oil now that it has a few games on it.
Talked to Schlem about this and he told me that I might be better off when I get a shiny Storm from the factory to just hit it with a 4,000 Ab pad by hand to "break" the cover - about the same as letting it break in over a few games.

But I have not hit my GRAVITY with any major surface ... and don't intend to because I like it so much as is.

Thanks riggs, I knew I could count on you on this topic, especially since you've suggested the drillings on my Attitude and Gravity through Steve Ford.

I am not a fan of factory polished balls, so i have experimented with a couple of surface finishes for my Gravity.  I have settled on 4000 abralon (not just touched up as riggs suggests but full-on surfaced).  Overall hook is about the same as factory polish but a bit rollier and smoother off the breakpoint.  At 2000 it was a dog for me - bled out too early for a pearl ball.  4000 retains energy but gives it a bit more control.

I agree with greenefam here. Factory polish for me is like bowling with a double-edged sword. 4000 abralon is the way to go.
