Picked up a couple of classic Storm balls
« on: May 31, 2009, 07:58:00 PM »
Saw an El Nino and a Power Charge drilled left handed (both in really good shape) for sale on ebay for $5 each and couldn't resist.

I couldn't find much information on the balls except the basic stuff on bowlingballreviews.com.

If anybody who has thrown these balls has any suggestions about how I should lay them out and recommended surface preps I'd be grateful.

I'm a low rev stroker and my pap is 4.75 over and 1.5 up.  I'm bowling on PBA patterns this summer at a Bruswick house, but usually bowl on a 38' top hat pattern at the local AMF.

Thanks.

Threw the Power Charge quite a while back. It was for medium-light oil even back then. Even the low Rg didn't seem to help it (in my hands) handle more oil than that. It had a bunch of backend. Great looking ball. Today, it's Curelyon pearl cover would require a good deal of dry to make its move, unless you roughed it up a bit or put something like Rico drill on it, which isn't a half bad idea. Some kind of control drill or low pin (for your track) might make it very useful.

can't comment on the El Nino.
