I bought a gravity on the 5th and threw it on the 6th. I thought this ball would be similar to maybe a total nv in strength. I have found that I cannot throw this ball it has a backend reaction that I have never in my life seen. It was supposed to have midlane even thought its a pearl and not be quite so jumpy. When it hits dry boards it almost looks like it comes to a stop then jumps across the lane. People that saw it last night were in awe like myself.It looks cool but I cannot control it at all. Any suggestions. I average from 215 to 230 between the different leagues I am in so I would say I am an accurate and consitent shot maker. Average deuce on a sport shot. What can I do to tame this thing down. I was cranking my levrg last night and could only get 12 boards out of it. There was a ton of carry down and the shot was slick. My nsane wouldnt move at all but the levrg did good great control. The storm was moving around 25 boards even on this shot and with no control whatsoever. Please help.

Add a little surface to the ball.  I agree, this ball back ends like nothing I have and I have plenty to compare it to.  I only have like five games on mine.

I will try to put some 4k on it and see what happens. My buddy was throwing a t road and it would barely move last night too. If you hit anywhere close to the pocket with the massive backend it has pins fly everywhere messengers galore. But hitting the pocket is a chore. I may try to take a video of it. Sad part is I was barely turning the ball

That is what I would do.

I attended the Cell/Gravity seminar and Jeff Carter said, maybe not exactly, "Surface is your friend."  Something along those lines, I didn't write it down to be quoting him later.

Please let me know how it reacts after the adjustment.

^^What he said.^^  I plan on getting one also.  My original Shift was a little like that.  My driller suggested redrilling w/pin up just above & right of ring & that's what we did.  It is now tamer & more controllable.  But that was my case, so yours may be different.  Let me know how the light scuffing goes if that's what you try.  Thanks & good luck.

Yeah I could have gone for the Gravity but I decided on the particles of the Shift.  This ball is sick that's all I have to say and I am glad the particles are there to smooth it out some.

I want to throw this Gravity now.  I guess next time there is an open house...

Here is a pic of the layout. It is drilled based on my pap The driller said with my pap my mass bias needs to be closer to the right of my thumb and not the left even though I am left handed. I have 2 friends that have the original shift. I was going to buy one til I saw them throw it. The original one looked like if it hit oil it just skated and didnt turn. But on a medium shot looked great.

That's a nice looking ball.  Do you know what your PAP is?  

Oh on the original Shift I definitely use it to get through the oil (must have oil) and out to a drier part even if it is way downlane it will hook back from anywhere even from angles I didn't think possible (with a non power player like me).  I went with the house layout with the pin under the ring finger.

I am definitely not an expert, but, you being a lefty, it looks like you have the mass bias key in a strong backend position in relation to your pin, w/out knowing your pap.  That's according to a drill sheet I'm looking at.  If you moved the key left of the thumb hole you'd get more angular backend.  But I'm not sure how far & what shape you are desiring.  Maybe let your driller know what's happening so he can advise/help/tweek, or you can change your line or release to compensate for your ball's movement.  That's just my initial observation & opinion.  Maybe some experts can chime in.  Cuz I'd hate to screw you all up, LOL.  Good luck.

That's a pretty bowlin ball. It looks a lot like this Roto Grip ball my buddy had. As for your backend dilemma, I would try it at 4000 abralon. Maybe 2000 polished, or even 4000 polished. And if that doesn't work, maybe drill your fingers deeper to help create flare. Maybe an X-hole too. Increasing flare SHOULD have it pick up earlier. I know on my T-Road it helped tame the over/under a ton.

The reason the mass bias is there is because he said my pap is 2 3/4 over I am a low tracker he said. He said that my mass bias should be closer to the right side of my thumb for the ball to roll the way its supposed to .
