Gravity Shift Help
« on: May 06, 2009, 01:58:32 AM »
I recently got a gravity shift off of someone off the forum, I am having trouble controlling in it goes way down the lane then snaps very hard. It has about a 4in pin on it, and the pin is above the ringer finger almost stacked. What can i do to calm it down.

Try to change the surface would be a good starting point! The box surface is 1500 polished and you could use a abralon pad to take some shine off and help it to read the lane a little earlier! Bruce

Either you or your pro shop: Take it down to 1000 abralon then 2000, and finish with 4000 abralon. That should still get it through the heads nice and clean, start it rolling a little sooner, and smooth out the direction change.

I want this ball to be the go to ball under my VG, will sanding it down defeat its purpose?

As long as your VG is drilled stronger and you dont take the GS down to 1000 abralon and leave it, it should still be under the VG. Not to mention the VG has a much stronger cover....

I would take your Gravity to 4000 abralon OR  500 abralon plus a little bit of polish

I say hit it wit a 4000 Abralon pad.  It's still gonna give the G Shift some length, but it'll be very smooth compared to the same ball with polish.  And if it's still too skid/snap for you, try it at 2000 Abralon.

500 plus polish is good too. But according to usbc research, that surface isnt very consistent...

take your gravity down to 4000 using the proper steps and it will start it up a little sooner and smooth it out.
