Street Rods
« on: February 06, 2009, 08:03:53 AM »
I am interested in getting a ball to go above my avalanche pearl with 4k+polish and my gravity shift/purple rhino both drilled to be long and strong to simplify things. I throw 14mph good revs how strong are these balls really? and would the solid or pearl be better fitting?

If I reading you want a Street Rod stronger than your Avalanch Pearl, Gravity and purple Rhino - can we be told how they are drilled?

I would like it to be stronger than an avalanche pearl drilled pin 1inch off pap(gets VERY good length and has a nice controlled snap on the backend) and taken to 4k+polish a gravity shift drilled with pin up and right at a 45* angle from ring about 1.5 to 2 inches at 1500 + polish and then scuffed to take a little polish off(gets down lane and is smooth but strong on the backend) and the purple rhino is drilled pin 1 inch off of ring and just slightly low with weight hole 2.75 inches deep 1 inch diameter. (This is very angular due to my ball speed). I would like the street rod to be a step above the avalanche pearl but a step down from these 2.

The Street Rods are not going to be stronger than your Gravity Shift. If you are looking for "bang for the buck" try the T-Road solid. If you really like the Gravity, the Virtual would be the all above it. Have known some who dulled their Rapid Fire Solids down and where pretty strong in the oil.

As I said I want this to be a step DOWN from those and a step up from the avalanche pearl.

Didn't understand. Yes, The Street Rod Solid would be a step up from the A pearl and great step up it would be. Buying one myself!

Just an opinion but from what I have heard and read might want to go with a pin above the ring verus a pin below.

Hmm alright I was thinking of a rico on it but unsure what itd do as I havent tried a rico yet BUT I need a smooth weaker ball somewhere in my arsenal even though long and strong seems to fit me better. Today I couldnt get ANYTHING to work. Lanes are somewhat flat but low oil and the oil was moving everywhere(people with plastic and trying to hook them) so I start off with my avalanche pearl find dry snaps left move a little find too much oil, pull out my gravity shift moved deep and got it to the pocket 7-10 stayed left another 7-10 moved a couple boards left a 7 moved a few boards the other way left the 10, switched to my purple rhino moved to the gutter and smashed pocket and left 10 after 10 then moved a board left keeping in pocket and left 7s nothing was consistant and I finally switched to my Nail and it was burning up and hit like a marshmellow. So in light of all this Im looking for a different look but a step up from the av pearl.

Depending on where and when you planning to throw it Id suggest going with something 4.5 Pin to pap or closer for fresh shots.  I have one laid out around 5.5 (a pearl) and it often runs right through the break on any sight of carry down after a game or two.

I could probably hit it with a pad so it reads a little better but I wanted it for 2nd shift and it fits well for that role.
