Storm T-Road Pearl, unhappy with it

This is my 2nd T-Road Pearl. The 1st one was drilled pin 1" right and 1" up from the ring finger (im Right handed) and the CG slightly right of the palm. The ball seemed to have over under h3ll with the OOB finish so I brought the cover to 1500 sheen polish helped some but still wanted to over react off the break point, sold it 4 weeks later.

Now to my current ball, I wanted a weaker layout on a ball so I drilled this one (bought it used for $65). Put the pin over the bridge and the CG slightly right of the palm center, Long and Strong. Well now it dont want to react all all. The cover right now is polished 2000 grit. Im not happy with this ball at the moment but I will be trying 2000 grit with the polish roughed up some. If that dont work then ill try 1500 sheen polish and keep going down till I find the reaction I intended for this ball.

If I had to give a recommendation for this ball to someone, i wouldnt be telling the person anything good yet. When this ball DOES find the pocket the strikes are sweet but thats rare for me right now with this ball. Tonight I started out with it in leauges, 134 game. Switched to my Hammer No Mercy Beatn in the 5th frame of game 2 and my scores went up to 174 game 2 and 235 game 3 with the hammer all game long.

I hope I can figure this blue thing out, might find a home somewhere else after a few more ideas.

I love mine, but I can also understand where Mike is coming from...if I try to utilize it on the wrong condition it can get pretty touchy.

With the symmetric core, the longer pin distances really kill the flare. That is probably what most of you are seeing. This ball was intended to go long, skid/flip, and the ones I've seen really do that. You just have to be conservative with the pin distance.

I had a bigtime over/under problem with my T-Road Pearl OOB. Then I got my fingers drilled deeper and added an X-hole on my VAL and it flared more and was MUCh more consistent. Then I hit it with 4000 Abralon and the ball is as consistent as could be. Very very strong, great for me to play a little deeper inside on a broken shot, and GREAT up the boards on a fresher shot.

Sounds like we all learned something...All complaints aren't valid.

Think about it, a No Mercy works but you pull a T-Road Pearl with a "weaker layout" from the bag. As a bowler, we have to be able to read the lane and use the right ball for the job.

Complaint still valid as I have a Rampage with the same layout on it, that ball will turn the corner playing 15-7, next shot with the T-Road Pearl and the T-Road barely finds the lighter side of the 3-6 pocket. The shot at the house I used this ball at changed alot. Last season the shot was 39' 7-7. This year its 42' 4-4. Anyway, the inserts were installed today by myself at the proshop, the operator was extremely busy and said to do the work if i dared. So I dared.

Tonight I will be using it at the house the ball was intended for, not the house I have used it at so far. The place tonight is usually drier which is what this ball is designed for.... Before anyone says it, yes I know the layout and the ball is not designed for oil! If I dont like what i see tonight then I will take the surface and use a wet green scotch bright pad and scuff the surface evenly by hand for no more then a minute, this should give me a sheen look to the ball and better bite.

Kinda curious why you're complaining that you can't throw balls on the same condition all the time.  Isn't that the point of having different pieces?

I love my T-Road Pearl...it just isn't meant for every condition.  It is at it's best when the heads have started to go and I need to get the ball through the front part of the lane.  This never happens during league.

You also moved the pin further from your PAP by putting it above the bridge.....this will make the over/under reaction even worse.  I'm not sure who told you that would smooth it out...but they were wrong.

The T-road pearl out of the box is very strong out of the break.  If you put polish over it, it can make it worse.

  The best reaction I have had with mine is to hit it with a 4000 abralon pad.  It is still clean through the front, but the 4000 finish makes it smoother out of the break.

I took the surface to 1000 abralon which gave the suface a semi gloss look, theres no polish on the surface right now. Used it Saturday night like that on a really messed up house shot. youth leauge prep bowlers, 2 shifts from a city tournament, 1 birthday party and 1 shift of an adult leauge before my leauge. 6th shift oil = barely any oil!! The T-Road was the only ball that would work for me on this stuff.

Shot 246, 165 (battled another transition) then 203 for 614. Now this isnt a good series by any means but for the way the lanes were and compared to the other scores on my pair with 3 other bowlers who average 206, 217, and 220. I had the high series on the pair. 220 ave shot a 549, the 217 shot a 557, and the 206 ave shot 499.... So im starting to like the T-Road some.
