Help: Arsenal improvement/upgrade
« on: December 11, 2013, 08:00:19 PM »
Hi guys! I just wanted your suggestions on how i can improve or upgrade my current ball arsenal. Let me know what you think i am missing or have too much of. I play on weekly team leagues and i'm thinking of joining some open singles tournaments next year.

here's my lineup:
Vivid
Domination Nano Solid
IQ Tour Pearl
Crossroad
Rotogrip Scream

Thanks guys in advance!

Honestly, you have a well-rounded arsenal.  If anything, you could add something like the Wrecker between the Crossroad and the Scream.  Other than that, I'd keep what you have as it will cover practically anything you'd face.

MOTIV Jackal Legacy
MOTIV Mythic Jackal

Med-Heavy:
MOTIV Trident Odyssey
MOTIV Forge Fire

He needs if anything, a pearl without polish type reaction.

Lucid, critical theory, defiant soul (hybrid), asylum.

A byte wouldnt be bad either, the reaction is pretty neat for a high end ball.

A "partical pearl" would be cool as well. The defiant edge id one and theyre on clearance everywhere for 90 bucks
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

hi guys! happy new year! i recently went to the proshop near our place to have my new spare ball (black belmo) drilled. i was talking to my ball driller. i told him i'm thinking of giving up my Vivid because i feel that its a bit too rolly or goes into a roll too much for me. he told me i didn't have enough speed and hand for the ball to make it hold through the heads and come in with a snap.

he said i should look into polished balls. what should i get to replace the vivid? is his assessment correct?

Not sure id agree. If you don't have hand a polished high end will slide in heavier oil. I'd look for a ball with less "rolly" characteristics and something a bit cleaner with your slow speed but that can still handle oil. Too me that says Defiant Soul!

Of course knowing your specs, tilt, speed, revs and axis rotation we can give you a much better and exact idea

i would love to give you the specs but i don't know how to get them. i can only see the speed in some of the bowling centers that i play at. my ball speed ranges from 17-19.

isn't the defiant soul a sanded ball? he was recommending the Byte or a Marvel Pearl.

If you are getting that on the monitor you are not slow by any means. Your pro shop should be able to get your specs.

What is it you want the ball to do? If you are that fast and no revs then I would think the vivid would be good unless you aren't seeing any oil. Is the ball just rolling out? If that's the case that's why he says pearl. It must be dry. Maybe you need something weaker.

So my confusion is what are you expecting from vivid? It's not going to be a snappy ball?

my vivid isn't snappy. its movement is like an arc but its on a roll to the entry point. the weight shifts early by the time it aligns to the pins it loses energy already.

The vivid is an arc shape but sounds like it's burning up. Then a Soul which will have a bit more backend would be a good choice in that spot. Weaker than vivid but stronger than IQTP. Still won't be snappy.
