Help Building 3 Ball for League
« on: August 10, 2015, 08:46:08 PM »
Have not  bowled in a few years. Storage unit from moving was broken into and all balls were stolen so starting over from scratch.

I am rev challenged and have average speed. Normally stand at 15 and shoot straight up the 10 to the pocket. I think I need something with a strong cover that rolls early to make up for lack of revs. Last balls had were VG Nano and Pearl and had pretty good success with them.

Would like to build a 2 plus spare or possibly 3 plus spare arsenal, any help would be appreciated.

I'm not trying to be mean, but to start from scratch and build the right set of balls for your bag, I'd prefer you go ask your proshop guy. For several reasons...

1. He needs to see you bowl.
2. We don't know exactly what surface you bowl on.
3. After the 1 & 2, a proper layout will be given from your knowledgable pro shop.

These guys can give you several different ball combos, but all that is guess work IMHO. Plus, save you money in the end.
WHat would work for one person, may not work for others. Good luck in your search.

For the rev challenged and your previous success, I recommend the Storm Crux and Crux Pearl.
14lb 15.5 mph at pins 325 Revs. Silver Coach, Ball Driller. In Bag:  Storm Pro-Motion, Hyroad X, Matchup, Code Red.

While I agree with seeing your local pro shop operator to get an assessment, I will say dmonroe814 has good advice.  The Crux and the Crux Pearl are Storm's current top end balls that are somewhat equivalent to the VG Nano and Pearl.

Personally, being somewhat rev challenged myself, I use a Roto Grip Hyper Cell Skid (Heavy/Medium) and a Storm Rocket (Medium/Light) as my house shot killers.  I do not like using high-end solid asymmetric bowling balls on house shots - they usually force me further inside and usually don't hit/carry as well (but that's my personal take on my game).

I agree with everyone else about talking to your local pro shop operator and having them watch you bowl. That's what my guy did for me and I feel we picked out a pretty good 3 ball line-up for the upcoming league and tournament season. I'm going with the Roto Grip Haywire, Storm !Q Tour Nano, and the Storm Sky Rocket. This should give me a pretty good look on most conditions, but I will fill in the gaps if necessary down the road.

I also agree. If you don't have a regular pro shop, ask around. Find out who has the best reputation, along with fair pricing. If he is on staff, they may promote the product that he or she is with. Just do your homework and you will be fine.
