Agent Replacement or Move On?
« on: August 07, 2015, 09:53:45 AM »
So my Agent was K.I.A. yesterday. Normally they would try to plug the gouge, but it also cracked on a 2/5 of the ball. The other issue is that the ball is a 2nd drill.  I have to wait to find out what the owner will do fo me. Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out if I should even attempt to replace the agent, or should I move on. The pro shop recomnened a Hy-Road Pearl, but I don't think they are alike. I don't know if I could go into the Master line or not. From what I know, the Marvel Pearl was the closest thing to the Agent in modern times, but I think they are going off of todays reaction and the Marvel Pearl is discontinued.

My current arsenal consists of a Victory Road Solid, Venom Shock, and Hy-Road. Obviously I have lots of holes in my arsenal. I have made a lot of changes due to bad layouts and ball match ups. I will be a collegiate bowler, so I feel I should just use this as an opportunity to shape my arsenal a bit more. Ball ideas at the moment (if possible) are the following: IQ Tour, Optimus, Pitch Black, Loco Pearl, Loco Solid (pin 2 inches from PAP), or Ride.

You throw it pretty well, I like how you keep your trial leg low to the ground, not flailing all over the place. I know you're pretty far south since you go/went to Bremen High School. I think the Marvel Pearl would be a good replacement if you can find one.

I appreciate the kind words, Northface28. I'm honestly real close to just buying a NIB Marvel Pearl. I just don't know what I should get if the center decides to get me a replacement.

Id get the Marvel Pearl if you can. One of the best balls Storm has made, and there have been many.

A marvel pearl /IQ tour pearl replacement has to be coming soon..

I could see him rolling some other pieces well, as he's got great game!

Respect pearl? Unhinged? Rocket?  Hyroad pearl.its an interesting gap in storms product line right now...I don't remember my agent being too strong at all...which makes me wonder if something like the Unhinged would be close to it in strength and hook shape.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

I kind of want to try the Respect Pearl. I've been intrigued by the Sky-Rocket as well. I just question do I need 3 balls in the same strength category right now. I don't really know what I need more. I might even go with the Pitch Black assuming they will even allow me to. Hopefully they will provide me a replacement ball. I appreciate the comments thus far. I hope more people comment.

A Forza Redline or Primal Rage may be what the doctor ordered. Just an idea.

Seem flippier than the Agent. The Primal Rage has always had my eye though.

First, I want to echo what a previous post mentioned about your form, keeping the trail leg low and how well you stay balanced.  Very nicely done.

Having thrown Motiv for a bit now, the closest would be the Primal Rage.  It's angular but overall tends to be smoother than some other pearl covers I've seen.  The thing I like is that the Fusion Pearl cover is proven, having gone on multiple balls from the brand (I have it on my Sigma Sting).  The other thing I love about their covers is they take surface changes well and don't soak up oil as quickly either.  One thing to keep in mind is if you go with Motiv, their overall motions tend to be a little smoother than Storm/Roto although very similar.  You might need to adjust layouts slightly.

If you go with 900 Global, I could see you going with the Respect Pearl.  I haven't seen much with it yet but have been impressed with what they're putting out lately.

I will definitely keep it in mind. Thanks for your insight. Versatility is definitely a big part of my equipment. I like to adjust the cover to handle a wide variety of conditions. I can definitely see why the #Redball brought people over to Motiv.

Are you seeing a condition that you don't have a ball for?  Do you need something slightly stronger than what you have now?

You seem to have the medium-oil shots covered well with your current arsenal.  So anytime you are in the market for a new ball, it should be because there is a shot you don't have an answer for.  Think of your equipment as tools.  If you need a hammer don't go buy a wrench.  You may get more use out of something weaker for when shots break down.

If you just simply want a Marvel Pearl, then get one.  But if you NEED something different, then get what you need.
